CrushBugThe Root has a pretty good article on implicit bias. There is a real problem here and the most damning thing is this quote from a woman who visits that Starbucks every day.
"She said a Starbucks employee told the gentlemen that if they didn’t purchase anything, they would have to leave, but DePino said that there were people in the store who said they hadn’t purchased anything for hours and had no issue."

Imagoamin says...Yeah, I said that because she is taking a real concept, implicit bias everyone deals with and our socialization having biased viewpoints ingrained in it, and playing it up to excessive shock values. It's a stupid way to teach anyone about those things.
And I don't read her statement as literally as say, a KKK member saying black people are subhuman, but more as purposefully exaggerated statements like "men are trash".
She said some stupid shit, but somehow an unemployed 26 year old saying stupid shit doesn't particularly worry me, seeing as she has such little power to effect anyone's life. She shouldn't be teaching this shit to people, but I'm not going to lose any sleep about her saying stupid shit, like millions of people do day to day but you aren't privy to because they're not being filmed.
You miss the point.

If you think this is only racism if viewed in a certain critical way or is only a little off, you clearly don't know what the word means and need to look it up. Her statement could be the definition in the dictionary. Saying 'all' (insert race here) 'are non human demons' is hyper racist and completely batshit insane, not only racist if viewed in one particular light, not just a little off. Wow.
What's Morally Wrong with Homosexuality?
sfjockoMost of his arguments are responses to criticisms, so it seems he is directly addressing those critics. After all, the homophile stance, if you will, is only made in reaction to homophobic pressure and oppression. Ultimately, homosexuality is no more moral or immoral than being black or liking ice cream. Or perhaps liking shellfish, another biblical taboo, would be a better example. How would you argue against those who tell you that you are immoral because you like shrimp? One argument would be to point out the fallacy in your critics' reasoning. It is not a form of logical proof, nor does it set out to be. It does, however, show the weakness in your critics' thinking. This is not meant to be an exercise in logical proof. It is more an illumination of irrationality and implicit bias in those who condemn gays.
Personally, I do not believe in basing ANY judgements on the dictates of a fairy tale (i.e, the bible). Perhaps one day that damned book will stop bringing more misery into this world. I guess that was a provocative comment. But heartfelt.
