I don't know where you people work, but were I work there are a lot of women who make 3 more digits than I do. They also have a shit ton more responsibility than I.
Perhaps it is a stereotype I'm unaware of. Perhaps that's because the places I've worked measure many things. To judge someone by their Sex is a terminable issue, the standard of evidence is even less than what the courts require in civil cases.
That's not to say it doesn't happen.
Anyone who has a problem with female peers doesn't understand that sex has no matter when it comes to doing your job and succeeding at it. I think that any corporate workplace with a bias to gender, or sexuality is an unworthy, and disgusting place work at.
But on the other hand, share-holders don't give a shit what gender you are; only that you bring in the money.

I'm glad that your one anecdote means that women have nothing to worry about. Women, on average, get paid less than men. There are plenty of studies to back that up. Women are less likely to be hired if they have children and less likely to be hired even if they don't on the expectation that they will have children. Obviously if they're the primary caregiver, they have less time for work and they get maternity leave. Less time working means less promotions and so on which is part of the reason for the wage gap. Companies are reluctant to hire women for important positions regardless if they're good or not even if shareholders only care about money. Take a look at how many women are CEOs. Do you think that it's because women are just not as good as men as managing companies?

Men have children too, so why do women get picked on? Apparently it's "false logic" according to westy that women can have a full family and a full professional career but it's pretty easy for men. That's because even today, in 2010, women are generally expected to do most, if not all, of the care for the children. Men don't get paternity leave, being a stay at home dad isn't really socially accepted so it falls to the mother to do most of the work. It's not the 50's anymore so women at least have the option of maintaining a career but there's still that belief that the mom does the housework while the dad brings home the money.

fucking asshat presents Feminism 101

peggedbea says...

pprt - being a feminist does not imply that you "give up your children as soon as they leave the teat"
how about the shift in household attitudes, where dads are now becoming MORE involved with the housework and child rearing than they were 100 years ago. what are the societal impacts on that?? children are still being taken care of. society is structured differently than it was 100 years ago. moms dont have to spend hours making clothing, it doesnt take hours to wash the clothes or the dishes or prepare meals anymore. household responsibilities just dont take as along anymore. and all american children are in school during the day. you cant cling to a century old societal model as your argument and then complain when i call your argument archaic.

p.s. i stayed home with my kids until my son was 3 and a half and ready for more social interaction and montesorri school and my daughter went off to kindergarten. i got a job that allowed me to work only weekends and only in the middle of the night. i spent 5 days a week as a stay at home mom, they spent the night with gramma the nights i was at work then came home for lunch, nap, dinner and bath with mom, then back to spend the night with gramma. not a bad system and i dont think society will suffer for it.

Congratulations. Perhaps some money for your site as soon as we see some housework and "fatherly love" for the children you so dearly depend upon while allowing them to finger paint on the walls of the temple!

3 dogs are in adjacent cages at the veterinarian. The dogs start discussing their situations. One dog offers, "Man, I really blew it. I chewed up the brand new couch and my owners said it was the last straw, so they brought me here to be put down. What about you guys?"
The next dog says, "I bit the mailman for the last time. My owners said they couldn't risk it anymore, so they brought me here to be put down."
"Bummer," says the first dog. "yeah, I know," replies the second.
They both look at the third dog, "what about you, what's your story?"
"Well, my master's wife likes to do housework in the nude. This morning she was scrubbing the kitchen floor on her hands and knees when I came thru the kitchen door. I looked at her and couldn't help myself. I just ran over there and started humping her like crazy."
"Oh my," exclaimed the first 2 dogs, "I can understand why she would want to put you down for that."
"Oh, I'm not here to be put down, she dropped me off to get my nails trimmed."
