Not directly related, but reminds me of something cool about vacuum: The air above us , the atmosphere, has weight such that it presses on everything from all directions (even "up") at 14.7 pounds per square inch. The effects of this aren't noticed, for example, when a dry piece of glass is placed on glass table. The air pressing down on the glass is equally counteracted by the air molecules under the glass pressing up. If, however, you wet the glass and press it onto the glass table, the counteracting air pressure from below is removed - the air pressure is now applied only to the top of the glass, so the full 14.7 pounds per square inch presses down and it's difficult to break the bond. Same reason suction cups work.

I just did a handstand and simulated falling over.

I think there's no way anybody would keep their arms straight.

Our bodies are extremely wary of letting out bodies slam into the ground, full impact, with our arms as a fulcrum. When we're next to a glass table (!), that instinct is even more pronounced.


Once we're tipping over upside-down, our bodies instinctively crumple to return to the ground and avoid the body slam.

This just adds to the already large number of improbabilities that have to occur in order for this video to be real.

When people are doing a handstand and they fall over, isn't their natural instinct to collapse their arms, so they go into a roll?

That's particularly true when we know we're surrounded by glass tables.

She keeps her arms completely straight, so that she'd fall flat, straight onto the table (assuming it's not shopped in).


(This just adds one more unlikely variable that'd have to happen in order for this to occur in real life.

a friend of mine had a similar highspeed setup he was borrowing (also black and white, but got down to 1/5000th), and my favorites were spraying a deck off cards (they bounce off each other!) and flicking sparks with a lighter.

you don't think about how much light you have to put on the scene until you're shooting it; we actually set most of the stuff we did on a glass table with a lamps underneath.

we had a glass table in our living room growing up and at one point the glass was broken, our cat jumped up..straigh through the table....shook his head, went back and tried it again, we just about died laughing. Great video, thanks for posting.
