so he's saying that corn syrup sucks ass, is bad for you, and takes more to sweeten... i thought our "body cant tell the difference" (tm)
i think ill listen to retailer who puts customers above profits... surprise, he makes a profit anyway because he's honest. shame on american companies wasting water to produce corn for syrups and animal feed.
there is no drought, there is a misuse of resources. shame shame shame.

Corn syrup is mostly fructose. Our body can tell the difference and processes it differently than other forms of sugars. Our body craves fructose because it is naturally found in relatively low quantities in foods that are so damn good for you that they cancel out all the bad things that fructose does to you see: apples, bananas, berries, etc.. Problems arise when all the healthy goodnesses are stripped away leaving only the refined not-so-goodness.

See: http://videosift.com/video/Sugar-The-Bitter-Truth for a very very informative video on the subject.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is perfectly healthy

"Researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health '...have re-created the mysterious Colony Collapse Disorder in several honeybee hives simply by giving them small doses of a popular pesticide, imidacloprid.' This follows recently-reported studies also linked the disorder to neonicotinoid pesticides. What is really interesting is the link to when the disorder started appearing, 2006. 'That mechanism? High-fructose corn syrup. Many bee-keepers have turned to high-fructose corn syrup to feed their bees, which the researchers say did not imperil bees until U.S. corn began to be sprayed with imidacloprid in 2004-2005. A year later was the first outbreak of Colony Collapse Disorder.'"

So I guess it wasn't exactly in anyones best interest to have this substance, except for the bottom line. Clear example of greed trumping sanity. We are all in danger when stuff like this is allowed to happen, but we fight the turrrists!

So not only did we kill ourselves slowly, but managed to potentially catastrophically disrupt the entire food chain... because HFCS is a cheap thickener.

Fucking hell... watch people continue to remain ignorant.

I keep wondering if the Fructose dilemma will ever go mainstream. There are some pretty huge corporate special interests that are going to try to keep this issue muddled. See the HFCS ads that act all insulted and self-righteous.

Jefferson Memorial Dancing on June 4 2011

dystopianfuturetoday says...

To the lawmakers: Laws against dancing are silly, and not unlike the old fogies in Footloose.

To the protesters: Surely there are more important things to protest. (Iraq, Afghanistan, torture, foreign prisons, corporate domination of our political system, the 'Citizen's United' ruling, lack of accountability for Wall Street crime, subsidies of high fructose corn syrup during an obesity epidemic, the war on drugs, gutting of social services, the patriot act, tax givaways to corporations and the super rich during a recession, No Child Left Behind, lack of a decent health care system, the department of homeland security, indulgent military spending, gutting of consumer protections, gutting of rights for workers, the rape of the underclasses, etc.)

I'd be happy to forfeit my right to dance at national monuments in return for an end to any of the practices listed above.
