sniff'n the tears-drivers seat-vintage 70's classic rock

I worked in a machine shop back in 79-80 and the only thing that kept you sane was the FM radio that we blasted above the noise of the machines. This was one of the many tunes from that era, good to hear it.

Kids React To Walkman (Portable Cassette Players)

chingalera says...

I heartily concur sir, as the last 2 months in a row have netted me two (count 'em) 2, perfectly functional as the day Sony made 'em, sports walkmanz (in Sony yellow), one with, one without AM/FM radio, both cassette players fully functional as the day they were made to last forever.

Uhhh, the am/fm receivers in those things?? Long and strong, highest quality imaginable.

The goddamn things are indestructible and 2 aa's last longer in one of them than in any device made since that requires em...

Uh....one was 5 dollars new in the box from a garage sale, one form a thrift store for $4.04. Incidentally, when these things were on the top of Xmas lists new...they cost about $125-$150 US back in early 80's dolla-Do the math, bitches.

I wear your grandma's clothes, motherfuckers!

I hate in in these "recreations of media past" when the producers go to all the trouble of getting the look and texture of a video recording and then totally blow it by not treating the sound in the same way too. It's far too crystal clear and 2011 sounding. Still though, good job...

Totally agree. The sound gives it away easily, but yes...good job.

I lol'd at "wormhole generators" right next to "stereo FM radio".

EDD I left last.fm since I read

"Just a reminder, your free trial of Last.fm Radio will end after you’ve played 30 tracks. Enjoying it? Subscribe for only $3.00/month"

I only used it for radio anyway, now I go to www.grooveshark.com

Cars nostalgia (Wheels Talk Post)

NetRunner says...

My first car was a 1993 Saturn SL1, which I loved dearly...right up 'till I totaled it in a snowstorm.

Then I moved on up *cough* to a 1989 Ford Escort Wagon. No air conditioning, no power anything, and a wonderful AM/FM radio. Went well with the ramen noodles I was subsisting on at the time, too.

Eventually I managed to talk my dad into letting me have his 1991 Integra in 1998, rather than trade it in for the peanuts they were offering him at dealerships. I only just got rid of that car last year. It was quite the warhorse -- sold it with 180,000 miles, and though it did have quite a few serious repairs around 120,000 miles, it was still running fine.

The Ting Tings - That`s Not My Name

I actually heard them playing this on the Mod Club night on the local Toronto radio station last Thursday night, which pleased me greatly. Still sounded like a somewhat different mix though. Or maybe the YT audio just doesn't hit as hard as FM radio. Hrm.

How to disqualify US job applicants (so they can hire H1-B)

choggie says...

Dirt, this viddy made national news today, with yet another reference to youtube over the airwaves....fm radio is voting on it, like they do daily on some viddy, or poll, etc...good eye for broadcast there buddy.....they got a statement out of the lawyers, apologizing for some of the wording, but standing behind their ill....like any good lawyer, they are out to fist-fuck you wearing a nice wristwatch, with the most amicable wording as possible.....

I first heard this album (Clandestino) whilst having my luxurious locks shorn in a hairdressers in Cambridge. Usually you hear some awful FM radio station. I bought it soon after and it's a great album.
