Watch "New Girl" (Blog Entry by lucky760)

mintbbb says...

I swear the first time I fast-forwarded through the promo (yes, I do love TiVO), I thought it was Katy Perry, and I was just thinking 'WTF? Katy Perry is getting an American sitcom'.

I'll check this out if it sounds this good. The only sitcom I have been watching since the Friends and Frasier heyday has been 'How I met your Mother' (though I watched 'that 70's show' reruns and ended up bying all the seasons with Topher Grace on DVD).

I wouldn't have a problem with the "push a button" ending if there were choices you had to make early on which affected the end. In the original, there were a fair amount of choices mid-game which would prevent you from experiencing parts of the plot. You had to save and go back and play the game with different choices to experience everything. This game does not have that depth of replayability.

Also yes, agreed, all of the boss fights and the hallucinatory zombie thing were pretty lame.

Other than that, the actual gameplay was extremely reminiscent of the original and I had a great time playing it. Unfortunately they've already announced DLC which fills in a part of the plot where they sort of fast forwarded the story in the base game. DLC is lame when it's clearly planned out and worked on ahead of time.

The Fool on the Hill--The Beatles

I finally got to see "Magical Mystery Tour" recently after all these years of hearing how bad it was. Sure enough, it was terrible. Even as a die-hard Beatles fan I had to fast-forward through 75% of it.

As a die-hard Beatles fan I have to agree the movie sucked. Great song though.

How the Middle Class Got Screwed

enoch says...

come on winston!
anecdotal evidence does not an argument make and you should know better and whats with the name calling?
this is not a political ideology problem but a greed and corruption problem which is more a personal flavor than a political one.
leftie,rightie,neolib,spendocrat,rethuglican...
who cares? they are all paid whores for their corporate and wall street masters and by the looks of your previous comments you have bought their line of tripe hook, line and sinker.

the fact of the matter is that after WWII america became a manufacturing juggernaut (mainly due to other manufacturing countries being leveled from bombings).our government dealt with the public in a pretty straight forward manner (relatively speaking of course).the unionized american work force set the standard and helped usher in the middle class,a hard fought standard i might add.this was the first appearance of the "middle class" and it was not just handed over but fought for tooth and nail by our grandparents and their parents.

the 60's were a time of great changes, not only politically but socially and marked a definitive change how our government dealt with the people and thus began the slow march we find ourselves in today.
consider this:
1.in 1972 the dollar was worth .78 cents on the dollar (22 cents interest per dollar)
in 2011 the dollar is worth .03 cents on the dollar.that loaf of bread didnt increase in price but rather the purchasing power of your dollar decreased.
2.in 1968 the phrase "for the public good" was removed from the corporate charter.hows that been working out for us?
3.in the 60's the middle class was roughly 48% of the american population and controlled 72% of americas total wealth.this was unheard of on a global scale, this sharing of wealth and was one of the main reasons why so many wished to come to america and take a swing at opportunity.fast forward to the present the "middle class" is roughly 11% of population and controls less than 10%.
4.while america still outproduces the rest of the world, has the largest and richest economy (yes,we still are the biggest).now lets consider the fact that the american worker produces more, works longer hours (on avg),yet receives less benefits in the forms of health care and retirement and the wages have stagnated since the 80's and when you factor in inflation, american workers are actually making LESS than their counterparts from 40 years ago.

let us all be clear on one thing.
capitalism, socialism or communism are NOT political ideologies but rather ECONOMIC systems and right now the system is rigged.
lowest tax rates in 40 years right along with interest rates.
this is NOT a coincidence.
you are being robbed.
at least the blacks KNEW they were slaves.
you on the other hand...remain clueless.
the fox is in the henhouse and people waste their time waxing poetic about political perfunctory.

@marbles
right on man.

On the Broken Time Travel Logic of Back to the Future Part 2 (Blog Entry by lucky760)

bamdrew says...

The way I see it, the BackToTheFuturePart2 logic is that moving forward in time you remain in the same 'time-line' or 'time-path', just like you fast-forwarded... where-as traveling back in time necessarily jumps you to an alternate dimension the moment you arrive and start impacting things at any level.

If this logic were strictly adhered to I don't see how you could ever return to your original future once you've gone to the past... you'd always be returning to a new future impacted by the past you just messed with. ... something to think about before cranking that dial back to prehistory!

Who is the ?David Tell? he mentions... need vids

I highly recommend you grab a copy of the Dave Attell Insomniac Tour. It's Dave, Sean Rouse, Greg Giraldo and Dane Cook. The best part is, yes, Dane Cook comes on last so you can just push stop there rather than having to fast forward through it.

Dave also had the show, Insomniac, on Comedy Central for a few years which was both hilarious and interesting.

Chris Matthews Lays Into Birthers in Ten Minutes

Crosswords says...

Had to fast forward through bits out of fear watching the whole thing would incur brain damage. They're right, it could be a fake, in the same way any legal document could be a fake. And here's why anyone with any amount of sensibility gets upset over this, those are leaders of political parties and elected officials pushing this paranoia. They may be the fringe, but they're in the main stream, it'd be like if the head of the democratic party said its possible George Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks, they think he likely wasn't, but its possible he was.

And yet those people sit there and try to peddle that crap, 'oh he probably was born in Hawaii, but the document could have been photoshopped, and then sneaked into the hospital and magically bound into a volume of bound birth certificates.' O_O
or 'He probably was born in Hawaii, but why did he take 2 years to get special permission only a president would probably have authority to get, so he could show us a document that was confirmed to exist by a republican appointed official to confirm that the official legal document he showed 2 years ago was actually an official legal document and not a fake, like the document he just showed could possibly be.' O_O

Yeah fucking ridiculous.

Oh Worf. A millennium is 1,000 years. But he said "A millennia". Which is the plural. Should have dropped the A.
Anyway, I always thought whats-her-name there was very cute.

English is his second language. I forgive him.

Does he speak English or is that the translator we here?

@blankfist I like Star Trek but yes a lot of it is bloody rubbish. Guilty pleasure for me but some eps I just want to fast forward.
