Give Us A Sexy Pose

VIR says...

This is in Las Vegas, Nevada, specifically, Caesars Forum Shops Northern Entrance. There are a lot of out-of-work people that create various costumes and prance around the sidewalks for tips, some offer dance shows (street dancing) while some just stand there as still as possible, 2 of my favorites are: Freddy Kruger and the iconic man from Monopoly (supposedly in pewter).

SOUL TRAIN ( RIP Don Cornelius)

Soul Train's Legacy
I’m seeing a lot of people talk and write about Don Cornelius passing but do not seem to comprehend the legacy Don Cornelius established while he was here with us. Don Cornelius was a pioneer who built a Black empowerment framework that was also an economic engine and knew exactly what he was doing and succeeded. As a fellow Chicago native who knows my people, know and respect those who came before me and appreciate the path they shaped for me and you to move forward, we are going to discuss Don Cornelius legacy and contribution.
Don Cornelius is from Chicago and was definitely someone who grew up with love for his people. You can check his history where he was straight hustling to get his in the Chi before joining WVON radio in the 60s. WVON means Voice of the Negro in case you didn’t know broadcasted to the Black community back then. Martin Luther King Jr. would appear regularly on WVON and most likely Don Cornelius was inspired by his presence as well as the fact he broadcasted for his people. He also carried this on television at WCIU where Soul Train got it start:

However, the late sixties was a beautiful time for brothas and sistas as we became united. More people were moving from the South up North to Chicago and cats were establishing themselves and their identity as Black. Don Cornelius was throwing parties all around Chicago as a party promoter and this is where he wanted to promote a television show and used his media industry connects to host Soul Train in Chicago.
Now Soul Train blew up and Don Cornelius moved the show out to Los Angeles for a bigger audience. Now here is where we have to take a break because this is the moment of truth. When some of us brothas or sistas make it big, what do we do? Most of us start acting like we don’t know our Black people anymore and start trying to go “mainstream” hoping to reach a bigger audience. But Don Cornelius not only kept his show Black-orientated, he pioneered Black media as we know it today and built a Black economic framework upon his success.
Soul Train was not some dance show, it was a framework that Don Cornelius used to promote his people and promote peace, love and soul in the core essence. Let’s look at each element of the Soul Train show:.................

Lest we forget another pioneer's passing this month, Johnny Otis passed, with him a lifetime-legacy of promoting the struggle of black entertainers. Producer, musician, talent scout, DJ, pastor...Son of Greek immigrants, he identified with the black culture during the civil rights era, and got black-listed on many fronts for his outspoken support of the struggle. little Esther, Big Mama Thornton, Jay McNeely, he discovered and promoted some of the best talent during the heyday of rhythm and blues.

Argentina's Dancing With The Stars is very NSFW

Very Sexy but I would've preferred a bit more dancing on a dance show and a little less everything that they did to try and look a racy as possible.

You know how I know you're gay....

Apparently, the show and channel got in a lot of trouble with Argentina's version of the FCC.

@Tymbrwulf What are some shows on t.v. you consider good shows?

For me, Dexter is the best show on t.v. and I think it has some of the best writing I've ever seen on t.v.

Also, breaking bad is pretty good too.

I know it's "popular" to say Dexter is a great show, but that doesn't make it untrue.

Also, you know why I think HBO and Showtime and AMC have better shows than the big networks? 'Cause the friggin' big networks put fucking NOTHING but reality t.v. I am SOOOOO fucking sick every damned night a dance show, or a talent show, or a singing show, or a cooking show, or a gameshow. EVERY GODDAMNED NIGHT.

I enjoyed Boston Public for a bit, I didn't watch it all the way through, but it was a good catch every now and then. But now? I can't think of a single good, well written drama on any of the big networks.

What do you say are good shows atm?

EDIT: Actually, House maybe. But even that has gotten stale and has gone downhill imo. Also, I reality thought the reality t.v. thing was a fad or a phase, something that would end soon, but no. It soldiers on, shamefully, night after night after night.

You Have Been Watching - Humiliation On Reality TV Shows

jmzero says...

The dancing show actually seemed pretty positive, assuming all the contestants are (like this girl was) reasonably capable of dancing and comfortable doing so in front of an audience. I mean, it's complete horror show if they weren't - but assuming they do enjoy that part, it seems like it's wins all around. I'd never watch it, of course, but someone must. In fact, I imagine a non-negligible section of the audience may be thinking "Why does that nice thick dancing girl want to lose all her stuff?"

The guy yelling in the first show bit is cruel... but the fault is only in the degree. I think a lot of the point of the show is that some guy is going to pretty much force you to get fit (which is something you might be willing to endure some being yelled at for) and for some people that's going to require some prodding.

The last show is cruel to the person being judged, but perhaps more so to the people doing the judging. They're talking in a way that you talk when someone can't or won't hear you. But, because it's televised, that person can. And so can everyone else. I'm not saying they're being tricked into being jerks, but there's a performance-expected atmosphere there where it may seem appropriate to say some pretty horrible things. But those things will look horrible to other people viewing the show.

I mean, if you took every comment I've made on the Internet, and showed it to the subject of the comment and what not, there's many things I've said that would sound horrible. Now hopefully if I was on this show I'd have the good sense to talk constructively, but that would just mean I didn't get any camera time I imagine.

This is tantamount to forming a freakshow.. what a fucking stupid sift. It would help if you'd put the comment as something like "Impressive dancing, showing disability doesn't stop you doing what you want to do!" Then i'd perhaps believe for a fraction of a second you didn't post this to simply show up someone who was different.
You want star rating that much you'd sift something like this in this way?
Could have been a great sift, the execution turned it into something disasteful.

To me, the video was WTF. Looks like you're the one making it about the disability, danny.

For the record, it's caudal regression syndrome.

WTF

Michael Jackson debuts Moonwalk - 1983 Motown Show

MaxWilder says...

This is lip-sync people. It is standard practice for a high-energy dance show to be lip-sync'd, and every major performer who dances while singing has done lip-sync, so it's not a put-down. The only people who never lip-sync are the "stand there and sing" kind of performers.

The biggest give away is that you never hear him breathing. The second biggest is that he maintains a steady volume throughout the performance instead of fading in and out while moving. And third, he seems to maintain a steady voice while jumping up and down, which simply isn't physically possible.

Again, this is not meant as an insult, every performer at this level does lip-sync or uses supporting recorded vocals of some kind. It's much more obvious when they don't.

Edit: Compare with this live performance of Thriller. You hear him break off the long notes to breath as the song gets going, and the volume shifts slightly depending on where the mic is. You can even hear notes that are slightly off pitch if you have a good ear. In my opinion, it's the little imperfections that make a live performance human and really draw you in.

Japanese children's show, yes. The anime is weirdly placed (perhaps ending credits for the previous show), and the yelling guys in the 'dance' show off cultural differences to a T, but using those machines for what look like ad bumps is quite clever. Could watch them for hours. Anyone know where to find more?
