I like to do my carpentry work by hand. It's slower, gives more of a work-out and is ultimately more satisfying.
Juggling hammers while driving a nail in the ceiling
I second the comment that it's probably in a pre-drilled hole. It goes way too straight and the nails are not deflected enough. Also, as anyone whose done carpentry knows, the angel at which the head of the hammer hits the nail determines where it goes . . . and this nail doesn't believe in that. So I say pre-drilled hole, but everything else is real. The wood is pretty soft too.

I agree it seems suspicious. I did quite a bit of carpentry with my father as a teen and that nail seemed to go in way too easily.
