Ben Stein accuses Ron Paul of 'anti-Semitic argument' on CNN

BansheeX says...

Ben Stein is no debater, he should stick to acting and game shows. Paul has a Jew chief economic advisor (Peter Schiff) who coincidentally also made Stein look ridiculous.

Paul was also inspired by the Jewish economist Murray Rothbard. To say he hates Jewish people is retarded. I think Paul has seen enough evidence to suggest that Israel has undermined our ability to make sovereign decisions on some matters.

I have come to agree that each country should really only be concerned about defending itself. We do for Israel what Israel needs to do for itself. No country is another country's sacrificial lamb. It's not the obligation of an American soldier to die so that an Iraqi or Israeli doesn't. At some point we have to accept that our meddling in foreign governments is easy propaganda for radical groups. It's clearly hypocritical that we endorse democracy while propping up dictators like Hussein and Musharraf.

It makes me very sad to have people like Ben Stein out there. The term "anti-semite" doesn't mean anything anymore thanks to douchebags like him that call it out whenever it rains on them.

Rachel Maddow: Why Fox News Isn't News

Jonsie says...

Fox News may not the bastion of news integrity, but if I were Maddow I wouldn't exactly be calling them out. I've seen my share of terrible work, bias, and sleeping on the job from all the cable news networks. One of my 'favorites' is the Campbell Brown interview of former Governor Jesse Ventura (YouTube vids were pulled ). In comparison to the anchors mentioned by HaricotVert these new guys are, IHMO, a joke.

I've seen enough information (and not from FOX) that imply a great deal of shenanigans going on behind the scenes of Obama's administration. So where is the hard hitting investigative journalism? I tuned in one day (no doubt in a fit of insanity) to find CNN discussing Michelle Obama's White House garden and the plant breakdown. A garden... I think my new favorite clip is Arianna Huffington & Ben Stein asking Wolf Blitzer: WTF is up with you guys covering this Ballon Boy all day? You know there's actually serious shit happening right now (note: i paraphrased a bit there)

Kirk Cameron tries to destroy our kids

Xaielao says...

I noticed someone mentioned Ben Stein's movie about Intelligent Design. I watched it via Netflix because I'ms till interested in reading or hearing an opposing scientific theory to Evolution. But once again I was disappointed as the movie didn't even try to give an opposing theory, it just boiled down to 'dna is more complex then outer space, therefor its too complex to have occurred naturally, it MUST have been designed!'

I might actually give ID a seconds thought if someone, anyone, would actually give me a THEORY OF INTELLIGENT DESIGN. But no, it's all 'this is why Evolution ISN'T true' but nothing on why ID is, beyond of course 'because god made it.'

inflatablevagina says...

I just watched a Ben Stein movie called "Expelled" hoping for an interesting side to Intelligent Design. What I was left with is something that reminds me of this. Hitler is connected to Darwin by way of Eugenics. So the basic thought behind most of these kinds of deals is "If you believe in evolution you are a nazi and a baby killer".... no yeah, it makes perfect sense..... Is there a polite way to exit from society?

Dawkins vs. Stein

ponceleon says...

Wow, he really does come across as an idiot (ben stein). He asks him to put the likelyhood of god into a number, Dawkins protests that it is kind of a silly thing to do, and then he CRITICIZES the number Dawkins come up with because it is somehow unscientific! What a fuckhead.

Edit: I just found a very amusing association in my mind... "You don't believe in Hindu gods? You don't believe in muslim gods?"
