I think "Pets" is a good idea but to further clarify, we need to have sub-groups for Pets. Groups for ones that taste good with tangy BBQ sauce and ones that are better with a simple spice coating and a day in the smoker.

Jamie Oliver - Perfect Steak

oOPonyOo says...

Brilliant. I just pan-fried a steak as it is too cold to bbq here in Canada. Hence the stumble upon. I liked the mere-blessing he did with the rosemary. I would like to add that the pepper should not be added til later - as it burns on the pan and tastes less.

*edit - also, wear a bloody apron or you will be soaking your gear in baking powder, or dawn, or whatever gets out olive oil.

Anyone up for a Los Angeles Sift Up? (Sift Talk Post)

OMG yes! @ant is going? Yeah!!! I do wish we were going to Lucille's though. They have amazing tri-tip, bbq ribs, and biscuits with apple butter. Ah well. BJ's is ok, I guess. They are only a step above TGIF's in my opinion. Then again, I haven't been there in a long time. I am probably way off in my estimation of them.

I didn't confirm that I was going! Reread what I said! Your husband (didn't know you were married ) isn't going? Oooh. I also don't like alcohol either, and coffee. They make me puke.

There's also a Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ restaurant close to Brea Mall right off the 57 and Imperial, I believe. They have lots of room to accomodate big parties and a full bar. Win-win!
>> ^lucky760:
If everyone else if up for it, let's do it closer to (or in) Orange County, so I can make it as well. (My ban hammer is too heavy to be carried long distances.)
We could do a more general purpose spot like BJ's Restaurant and Brewery at the Brea Mall, which is just across the border from LA County.

Oooh, right by Fullerton where I go to church!

EPIC MEALTIME-EPIC MEATLOAF

Ryjkyj says...

I don't like the stuff they do with fast-food. But the "TurbaconEpic Thanksgiving" was well... epic. And not in the new-age internet sense. I mean it truly, truly was skillful, innovative, Greek tragedy-style EPIC.

Also, people who put ketchup or any sort of BBQ sauce on meatloaf should be burned alive and served to me as ketchup-free meatloaf with gravy and mashed potatoes.

Two Kids Unwrap The Best Present Ever!

Trancecoach says...

I didn't mean to offend anyone with this comment and I apologize if anyone has taken offense to it. It was not my intention to imply ingratitude for the sacrifice that many soldiers and their families make on behalf of American freedom and security.

I was simply intending to make a rather sardonic remark about why this family would choose to surprise their kids in this manner. The video seems to suggest that this ploy is clearly more for the parents than it is for the children -- who don't understand the box, the bbq joke, or anything except for the fact that their dad has returned.

>> ^Trancecoach:

Daddy's coming home in a box either way.

Bear Stalks Man

cito says...

Had a similar situation with a brown bear here in the south, was deer hunting with my dad, we tried to leave it alone but it wanted to get too close... long story short, we didn't bag a deer that day, but we brought home a bear and had a bbq for the family.

Olsen Twins Being Adorably Racist

v1k1n6 says...

I don't know what this has to do with race, but I do know that I go to the um...less savory part of town, which happens to have more concentration of African American members then other parts, to get the best damn fried chicken in the city maybe the world. Goes for BBQ too.

Am I racist? Is it coincidence? Are the restaurants racist for contributing to the stereotype? Or is there something to this?
Here in Kansas City we have the best DAMN BBQ and fried chicken in the nation.

But I always lock my car door while driving there. Objectively speaking.
