Frank Zappa - City of Tiny Lights (Live)

moodonia says...

I saw Zappa plays Zappa last time they were in Ireland, my first time seeing them as I missed the tour with Steve Vai. I also saw the grandmothers of invention in the mid 90's I'm guessing? That was an amazing gig, they did a brilliant version of King Kong.

Problem with both gigs was the number of people pissed out of their minds, falling down drunk and yelling at the musicians. I've seen a more sober crowd at Ac/DC shows. Weird.

Rep. Hale Defends Drunk Driving

No one is "for" drunk driving, but the statist a$$hole$ once again go too far, enacting draconian laws.

A glass of wine with dinner will land you a DUI in most states.

Well, Rep. Hale just said he's for people driving themselves to and from bars, and against all DUI laws because it destroys that "way of life". This man is absolutely for drunk driving, it would be hard for him to be any more upfront about it. Seriously did you watch the video or are you just responding to the description?

Frank Zappa on Crossfire ... over 20 years ago!

harpom says...

I started listening to Frank Zappa when i was twelve, and i still listen to him regularly. He was a musical genius.
Even when the Nazi cut him off near the end there, he still kept his cool. Frank should have run for office. This is not the only video were he is bang on about the future of America and politics.

Steve Vai reflects on his audition for Frank Zappa

shrimpfork says...

If you'll watch some of the footage out there of Vai and Zappa bouncing off of one another on stage, you'll understand why Vai goes straight to Zappa's tendency to be a stickler for fashion over form-Vai is a highly technically influenced (scale practice) player who has a gigantic head(narcissist) and Zappa was all about the expression and unfolding of his work as expressed by the musicians he surrounded himself with.
Vai did not last long with Zappa, both of them had huge egos. Zappa's style is much more fluid and natural than Vai's-

I am not calling for Palins head, nor anyone else's. The fact is though that while there are crazy people in this world, and crazy people will always do crazy things, public speeches encouraging revolution and violence (even if it is indirectly) create an environment in which these people have a much easier time rationalizing such things. Even non-crazy people who are just fed up and getting angrier and angrier at what they are being told repeatedly is the tyrannical takeover of their country will eventually reach the point where violent lashing out seems the only alternative.
This doesnt mean everything has to become all "PC" or whatever, thats just another swing in the extremist direction.

And I'm not saying words have zero effect, I'm saying "they're just words!"

A lot of people here seem dangerously close to arguing for large scale censorship, particularly when it comes to those other people who are always wrong.
