Video game addiction - Fact or Fiction?
Honestly, I started hanging out at videosift when I decided to go cold turkey on my gaming addiction. These "addicts" they talk about playing for 20 or 30 hours a week sound like light-weights. I've had weeks when I had maybe 30-40 hours of sleeping and every other second was in front of a WoW screen (admittedly, that was a special week when I didn't have a lot of my normal obligations, but I've pushed it past sanity for years). I ruined friendships, I hurt myself financially, and I hurt my family.
I've given up games in the past, and I've always gone back. I hope I don't this time.
I think anyone who doesn't think gaming can be addictive is either in denial or just hasn't encountered the phenomenon.
