Cop Eats Dope, Gets Paranoid, Calls The Police

cybrbeast says...

Farhad there are AFAIK no reported cases of people dying by THC (marijuana) intake alone. It might be possible but you'd probably have to IV massive quantities of pure THC.

Eating brownies is a bad strategy for first timers. Estimating the dose is really hard. It takes quite a while for the effects to come up, so many people get the "I don't feel it, so I'll take more" effect. It keeps building, you'll be feeling nicely stoned but then it still gets stronger and stronger. Lastly and maybe most importantly it lasts for a long time. If I eat a good amount of brownies in the afternoon I'll steel be feeling it the next morning.

Farhad, do you have a link to the full audio recording?

Hemp For Victory (1943 US Information Film, 13:42)

Farhad2000 says...

Industrial protectionism, DuPont lobbied the government to make Cannabis a Class 1 drug, a narcotic, in order to vilify by association hemp, and effect the transfer to polyester. In reality the THC levels in hemp are minute and have very little intoxicating effects. Genius isn't it?

Yay for dictating goverment policy to appease corporations!

People don't smoke Hemp (I hope) - it contains no THC - and my point is that Hemp is a species of plant whose use out-weighs any other, and has been used for thousands of years longer by humans than - say, alcohol (the now socially acceptable substance). Plus, your question "how is using a plant for something that is useful hypocritical?" What about the varying legality of medical cannabis? What about our rights to grow and use a plant that we've used as a species for so long? Watch the linked video for the evidence of what I'm saying.

gorgonheap says...

There is a diffrence between hemp plants that the factories grow and what people smoke. A lot of rope is still made of hemp, I grew up on a farm where we had some wild hemp that would grow. but that speices of hemp has such low dossages of THC that you'd literally have to breathe in smoke from the burning plant for several hours just to even start feeling high. how is using a plant for something that is useful hypocritical? I think the problem is people used the stronger more potent species of hemp (actually the leaves not the whole plant) to get a high. Which dulls the senses and impars judgement. Hense a ban on use of the plant leaves for ingestion.

Obviously, when fighting the Nazi's - the US war-machine couldn't ignore the most useful plant in the world: hemp (or THC-less cannabis, to the layperson). Full of useful information the government has now chosen to ignore, such as "Hemps been used for thousands of years" - since around 6000 B.C. to be correct (predating alcohol by a couple thousand years).

Just how much does marijuana impair your driving?

choggie says...

....you'd get no-where with that test, and that guy already had a large amount of THC in hid blood, even before dem fatty....the best way to have conducted it was the way they did it...yardies' levels were closer then, to what it is constantly....take a non-smoker, give him the joint, yer test results are again, skewed, in the opposite direction..... no consistant results, because its psychoactive effects are varried from subject to subject like LSD, which is why they make up stories about what it does to folks....

\\Bottom line:-Legalizing it will take the $$$ out of the hands of a lucrative, government-controlled, business-We have working models of legalized herb in the Netherlads, and all we here on the news here is how its legal there, followed up by a sex shop pan shot, in the background, the same associations made with drugs and crime, that they spun in the post-prohibition 1930's in America.....

....all this typin's killed my buzz.....

Just how much does marijuana impair your driving?

legacy0100 says...

If you're REALLY high, then yes, it impairs your driving performance. But like the show suggests, 1 spliff is rather okay. You do tend to focus more because your mind seem to be at ease and free of distraction. You become very mellow, though your judgement skills are still there.

But again, that's only after a minor dose. I do have an experience where I got to be very very high and you do become impaired both physically and mentally. My roomate at the time gave me some really high dose of THC. And after taking it, my heart was beating so quick I thought I was going to die. I was twitching and yelling and all that stuff. Now I think of it, I think the stuff was mixed with something else, because even with large amount of THC I don't think it's suppose to raise your heartbeat like that.

guide to making hashish - from your home grown marijuana

Farhad2000 says...

A better way is cold water extraction method which takes much less plant material, can derive the THC off plant stock as well as buds. I'll leave the precise methodology and procedure for you to discover on the internets.

Marijuana campaign in Nevada documentary - Part 1

pass.the.grog. says...

from wiki:
The psychoactive drug cannabis, also called marijuana or hashish, is produced from parts of the cannabis plant, primarily the cured flowers and gathered trichomes of the female plant. The major active chemical compound Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly referred to as THC, has psychoactive and medicinal effects when consumed, usually by smoking or ingestion. Humans have consumed cannabis for thousands of years; in the 20th century there was a rise in the use of cannabis for recreational and religious purposes.

God's Next Army - A Documentary

Krupo says...

Dunno about the "nutbags" tag; they come off pretty nice actually. Oh wait, I get it... they're not Catholic. One day they'll learn the Way. <wide big grin>

My grin slowly dissolved into a bit of horror as I realized there *is* a nutbags part, here are my highlights:

I'd probably be kicked out of there within a week. (19 minutes in) No alcohol? Scratch that... much earlier. Wait, how the heck can you go to Communion? Ah yes, they're not Catholic. <shrug>

20:40 - what? that's weak theology. I could totally kick that theologians ass...umptions. Oh man - worst 21:50 -> worst science teacher EVAR.

24 min... man, I did debating... but I totally see how incredibly annoying that can make you.

26:20 - "As-bes-toes"

26:45 - "Tunnels" - "the concept of riding on electricity" - dude, it's just a freakin' subway. Whoa.

28:10 - Using religion to fight estate taxes.... WHAT????????????????? Have they heard of "give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar." Ugh.

31:15 - 'women are inferior in all aspects of life, based on ultimate frisbee'

32:50 - 'lost of other things too' ... oh, not what we were expecting. ... oh wait, yup, 33:20.. public shaming. Roommate = snitchy. Smooth.

38 minutes - "if you want to be president" -> um, do they know how much blow Bush II did? Just asking...

40:55... doing the wave with campaign signs. Cute.

41:15-35 - gun rights? Iraqis were and are heavily armed, and yet they had tyrrany. Just saying...

43:20 - 'guess we could've made a few more phonecalls' - IT'S YOUR FAULT!

44:56 - 'that flag still flying' - okay, so WHO would dare take it down? Honestly.

46:20 - in conclusion, the architect they hired was incredibly uninspired.

General observations:

- Key difference between American and Canadian conservatives is liquor consumption.

- The narration makes it feel like a weird National Geographic special or something. I'm guessing the British did a social study of some sort with this video?

- PHC ~= THC. Tee hee

Old Lady Punch

daphne says...

I think she deseved it. She's saying, "We used to smoke marijuana together, did you know that...?" before the THC comment.

That's obviously the puncher's daughter or granddaughter. You just don't do that.

(I love how the first one says, "This woman is utter trash."
