You lucky bastard, I wish I could have been there.
The games I am most exited about after E3 are: Brutal Legend, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Crackdown 2

I lucked out by living in Socal. No way I would have flown out, but that's just me. >.<

Splinter Cell: Conviction fo sho! And I'll probably get the new Silent Hill, as well, but the demo they had was pretty dull. I didn't get a chance to check out Crackdown 2 while I was there, but that looks rad. I don't know what I'm going to do with my time any more... Honestly, this was a great E3, but definitely an overload. Even the so-so games looked hot, though I wish I had given more of them a play test.

Oh, and I have to mention for the Nintendo DS!!! It's a puzzle game where you write down the names of objects to spawn them in and help you beat levels. The database is immense and has nearly limitless possibilities. You need to get an item from the top of a tree? Write down "ladder" and a ladder is spawned to climb up. Write down "helicopter" and you'll fly in a helicopter instead. "Football"? You kick a football and knock the item down. Simple and amazing.

Splinter Cell: Convitcion gameplay demo E3 2009

That was INSANE!

I never was a big fan of the Splinter Cell series, mainly because of the relatively slow paced action, but this game looks so much quicker, and packed full of awesomeness.

Jack Bauer meets the Prince of Persia. Can't wait.

Favorite Games of 2008 (Videogames Talk Post)

Looking forward to in Q1-2 of 2009 (PC): Prototype, Braid, Velvet Assassin, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Trine, Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Burnout Paradise, Borderlands, Bionic Commando, Dragon Age: Origins, Tom Clancy's HAWX.
The better part of these really ought to arrive in 2009, even if delayed. Some have solid release dates set for Feb, as far as I can remember.

Zero Punctuation - The E3 Trailer Park

"New IP" is one of the worst phrases I have ever heard. When I was a kid we said "new game".

Actually I think it was quite right to say "New IP," as they were talking about a game based on new ideas, as opposed to a game that is a sequel to other games. IP of course stands for Intellectual Property, usually referring to a games entire canon. So Assasin's Creed would be a "new IP," while Splinter Cell 16 would not be, though clearly both would be considered "new games."

Then again, I'm sure I said "new game" as a kid too.

so with the big hollywood budgets that games have now, comes the hollywood executive angst of producing something new..?

How much do you really want a new IP? Two words that should remove all obscene thoughts of such nature: Assassin's Creed!
If you still want a new brand after that, good luck on ya son, but I'll settle with Splinter Cell 16 before I touch that crap again.

Ugh, stop typing. Please. The idea that if one original title fails, it means original ideas should be avoided, is f'ing retarded.

Penn & Teller - Bullshit - Gun Control

MarineGunrock says...

Sirex and Spoco - What about hunting? You keep telling me that there's no reason for ordinary people to own a gun. I think hunting is plenty good of a reason to own a gun. How else do you propose I kill a deer or moose from a hundred yards? Even 75 or 50 yards? What do you want me to do? Get all Splinter Cell and sneak up and knife the bitch from behind? Go Rambo and drop out of a tree and tackle it to the ground? YeahIdon'tthinksonotgonnahappen.

"let them get a new hobby."

How about people that like to race? Or swim? Or snowmobile? Or ride ATVs? Or (insert name of hobby here). People have died in each one of those activities, so you to telling me to get a new hobby just because other people (a comparatively SMALL number) have died from firearms is ridiculous.

If there are children in the home, simply lock your shit up. I can't think of a gun case in existence that can't be locked.
While we're at it, let's ban all knifes in the house too.

It's the same reason why people put up gates on stairs at houses or put those plastic things in outlets or have locks on the cupboards under the sink - kids will get into any and everything - so if you simply lock up the stuff that's dangerous - Problem solved.

Weapons of US soldiers in Iraq 'plagued with problems'

lavoll says...

this made me curious, so I did a little research about my own country.
since 1967, norway used the AG-3, which is a variant of the heckler and koch G-3. This, or next year, they are switching for the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_HK416

The switching process started in the 90's, and it took them 11 years to arrive at a decision for the HK416. The argument was not so much about which weapon, but about which type of ammo to use; the lighter 5,56mm or the heavier but more penetrating 7,62. the decision was finally made for the 5,56mm.
other guns that were concidered were: Colt Canada C8, Heckler and Kock G36, FN SCAR and FN2000 (famous from the game splinter cell) and some others. These weapons were also all evaluated in the field on missions in for example afghanistan.

I remain to deny this theory until it is CLEARLY proven with undeniable evidence that can be support by both the accusers and the defenders. Until then, I refuse to believe that United States would actually rig a disaster such as this for political means.

I mean taking something out of context is one thing (jingoism during Spanish-American war), and propaganda is also well known. But you're telling me that certain group of people with shared interest in government had enough power and influence within United States government and exists as a splinter cell, its network of influence so wide and so grand that all parts of the government was working hand to hand in this, and yet at the same time nobody in government noticed anything of it?

It's just surreal.

BTW, what happened to that white powder in envelopes thing? Are they investigating it at all?
