Seattle is starting to get as cool as Portland!

Portland is way more progressive than Seattle. Really fierce on greenbelts and walking/biking trails that are actually usable for commuters.
And yeah. Seattle has coolness.
You're welcome!
Not that i'm in the know ,but i personally always thought of Seattle cooler then Portland. Although i have been to Seattle (which i enjoyed) and never Portland.
...and thanks for the ups.

North...to Alaska, for a White (less) Christmas
We usually have a few feet of snow at least, and have had to call plowers to get our driveway plowed a few times. We usually have below zero weather on many occasions (none so far?) Alaska will become the new Seattle maybe.
Eurofighter Typhoon Close Encounter
A-10 is in my top 3 for sure. I was lucky enough to see one flying two years ago at Seattle Boeing Airshow.
Just after the A-10, the Eurofighter is my second favourite airplane. I still think the Canadian government should update our fleet with these. Those CF-18's won't last forever.
10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman
I can't imagine it ever happening in New York to me but it's happened in Seattle. Various people and I think it's because I look grumpy most of the time. Even if it's someone saying hi that I know I usually don't like to be interrupted from my thoughts or my walk.
Let's take this in a small village vs big city aspect. Live in a small town where tons of people know eachother, I'll bet the Hi's and the Return Hi's are more frequent and it's a generally nicer atmosphere. Same with say if this person saw someone that she's seen everyday on her own street in New York. Big giant city, you're more on guard you're looking out for yourself or you have a task you need to complete. The person who is genuinely just being nice, might be from the area and very familiar with that street and everyone on it. This new person walks in and they want to be friendly. Doesn't always seem that way because it's a big city and that person could be from anywhere.
I don't know what people should do differently except that understand when a pretty girl smiles at you or says hi it's usually politeness. There's nothing wrong with starting with being polite, just be polite back and not too forward.
Come on, guys who don't think this is harrassment, how many times do you get asked "Hey, how are you", or "how you doing" or wished "have a good day" as you're just walking along in the city? I'm willing to bet it's none. It certainly never happens to me.
What $1000 In Rent Will Get You In Various US Cities
I got huge sticker shock while looking for a place to rent when I sold my house in Seattle two + years ago. Sigh
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Civil Forfeiture
Here in Washington State:
http://www.columbiabasinherald.com/news/crime-fire/article_1954e1fe-3555-11e4-a06e-0019bb2963f4.html
"Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones announced plans to hold homeowners in the Larson Housing area accountable for crimes committed on the properties they own."
He doesn't say how he will hold home owners responsible for crimes committed on their property, but civil forfeiture is the only legal option I know of.
After the story was printed in the local paper people were upset, and he decided to clarify his statements. https://www.facebook.com/GrantCoSheriff/posts/338345812994397
He is only targeting "absentee private landlords" ie people who rent out their house but do not live in the city.
"I am clarifying this because I don’t want hardworking live-in homeowners in the Larson Community to think law enforcement will be holding them solely responsible for someone else's criminal actions which happen on their property."
Now that the locals think they are safe and only property owners from Seattle are being targeted, the story disappeared.
If you live in Grant County, please vote this guy out.

@Payback Here's another recent drone incident in Seattle: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Drone-operator-apologizes-for-spooking-Seattle-resident-264489901.html
I remember awhile ago the Police wanted drones in Seattle and the public were against it. That's the only Drone thing I know about Seattle. Anyways the Seattle Reign (NWSL team) play right near the needle at Memorial Stadium!
Also this is a Phantom 2 http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-2

Space Needle Aerial Footage
*dead removed by user ... guess he got discovered. From King 5 News in Seattle July 24, 2014:
Seattle's iconic Space Needle is still standing after police received reports of a drone crash at the popular tourist attraction Tuesday night.
The Seattle Police Department Blotter says witnesses reported seeing a small drone buzz around the top of the Space Needle and possibly crash into an observation deck window. Witnesses said the drone - described as a white quad-propeller unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with a camera - then glided to a nearby hotel, where it landed inside a fifth floor room.
Police said no damage was found at the Space Needle.
Investigators tracked the drone to a guest staying at the hotel. The man told police he flew his drone past the Needle, but claims it didn't hit anything. He showed video from the drone's flight, which showed people waving from the observation deck but no collision into the Needle.
The man told police he was an Amazon employee visiting from out of state and had bought the drone at a hobby shop. After police educated the man about Seattle's recent drone-related controversies, the guest agreed to not fly his drone again during his visit to Seattle.
