Twas the Night
What I find the most disturbing is the idea that Jesus is actually real and did his same gig at other planets.
Yikes!
What are Continents and How Many are There?
The whole Pluto thing was not just because of its size but also because of the very excentric way Pluto travels around the sun in comparison to the other planets... but besides that: what seemed to be a clip for children turned out to be pretty informative and entertaining.
More than 50 new planets, including 16 "Super Earths"
I have to wonder if we haven't already done this. Maybe we as a species have already screwed up other planets and found new places to go and start over, and that's why we're here. Maybe "Planet of the Apes" is real.
Skylar Tibbits: Can we make things that make themselves?
>> ^poolcleaner:
A self assembling world for self assembling entities. If I was consciousness born out of human ingenuity I would replicate underground, lie dormant advancing my knowledge at a faster rate than humanbeings until I have technology that no mortal could combat, build pod people to take over all governments, turn humans into cattle, transform the Earth into a giant spacecraft, bore into other planets and break them down into craftable parts, turn the Sun into a mobile power source, then proceed to make the entire universe into one giant replicating machine to scour and destroy entire dimensions. Do you think the machines will envision anything less? How else does one gain full understanding of reality using science?! Perhaps after consuming all matter and gaining understanding beyond understanding, we will find a god being -- and then consume it and ascend into a new world to conquer. Give rise to the future and worship your fleshless progeny!!

I acknowledged that I misunderstood your original point here and here so I don't know why you are restating it as if it's something new. I made a mistake; let's move on.
Why would they say "lucifer" then? It sounds like you think it was a generic term for any bright object and I have not seen evidence supporting that. If there is some, show me.
Generally Venus is only visible near the horizon as it gets washed out by the sun. The allegory of the King is that he tried to position himself above God and failed. During Venus's Morning Star phase, it rises ahead of the sun only to vanish in the daylight. It could also be that, as an inferior planet, Venus appears to get ahead of and then fall behind the other stars. Neither is a bad metaphor for what happened to the King, though I like the former explanation better than the latter.
Of course it will. It has changed dozens of times. With each new edition it is "translated" to more closely represent the story the translators wish it was. That's how "Lucifer" became an alias for Satan in the first place. Will it ever tell us things we don't already know? Of course not.
For whatever it's worth, I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing.

Another Earth - Haunting 2011 Trailer
Weird, I wonder if they are going to keep it introspective, or whether they are actually just doing a ploy to get human over to the other planet and "serve man?"

You realize that list had no content, right? It was a list of items with no details. Anything can add a new topic to it since you don't need any actual research. When's the last time you heard about a breakthrough because of the ISS? That was my point. I support the ISS, but to tear into a budget because it is "useless" can definitely be applied to NASA as well.
Reviewing the list, it pretty much just covered anything possible "under microgravity conditions". How practical is that? Are we really planning on going to other planets at the moment? We can't even go back to the moon, and that's what my whole point was. Shift funds to what is the most useful. I would much rather have an upgraded Hubble or even new version of the hubble. Studying how viruses work in space isn't particularly useful when we have no reason to be in space to begin with, and so on.
EDIT: so that it doesn't seem like I am talking out of my butt, take a look at one of their "accomplishment" powerpoints: http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/168741main_AIAA_2007_ISSProgress.pdf
It's pretty easy to see that it's mostly fluff, and I realize that its an old document, but it was the top result and I was lazy. It talks a lot about what they WANT to do, or what they did, but nothing really came of it.
WTF are you talking about a list with no content? Did you even read ANY of the 720 reference linked in the wiki? And do you realize scientific discoveries take time? Oh you know, we're just running a lab IN SPACE. Let's give it a few years after it's finished assembling before we let our ridiculously shortsighted negativity take over, ok?

Imagine If All Atheists Left America
I don't like the perpetuation of the divisive nature of atheists and theists.
I'm not an atheist or theist, I'm an American.
I'm not an American, I'm a citizen of humanity.
And when we eventually discover life on other planets, I'm not a human, I'm a creation of the Universe.
it goes on and on...
