Nightwish - Storytime (Live at Wacken Open Air 2013)
Nightwish used to be my favorite band as a teenager. I stopped listening to them about the time they gained mainstream popularity, when they released two albums I didn't like very much and then got a new lead singer who had a very different voice. I recently found out that they have yet again changed their singer and I really like their new album. She has an amazing voice, which in my opinion fits their sound much better than the previous one.
Some of my favorite songs :

My pleasure! I actually ended up going to Amazon and ordering the whole album
I have a couple of Nightwish CD's, but I stopped pyaing attention to them after Tanja Turunen left and I hadn't heard that Tuomas did a solo album. Now I just have to burn a copy and stick in my car
Wow, thanks a lot for all the attention
lacuna coil-trip the darkness
Makes me think of Nightwish And this is a fantastic song!

Nightwish - Elvenpath (Live)
I saw Nightwish after they got a new lead singer (Anette Olzon). I have to admit, although Tarja was talented, I like Anette better.

Orianthi ft Steve Vai "Highly Strung"
I have no particular attachment to lyrics. I love instrumental jazz, enjoy classical, and have been on a major kick of foreign rock lately because it's great to be able to appreciate voice as an instrument without having to understand the (frequently) trite lyrics.
Roll Tide establishes a theme and presents variations on it. It's structure is quite classical, as a lot of metal is. The issue I raise with Vai (& Satriani & Michael Angelo Batio) is that they are shredding for the sake of shredding. I don't stand opposed to shredding, but I feel that it's at its best as an interlude to a piece with harmony, melody, arc, etc.
A drum machine and two guitars is just not my idea of a good time (except for maybe Ratatat). I certainly appreciate the absolutely insane technical skill of these guys, I just often believe that they're squandering it.>> ^juliovega914:
I feel Nightwish's Crimson Tide stands to show that a song can be good listening without lyrics.
