LEONARD COHEN-dance me to the end of love

rougy says...

Cohen's another rare treat. He's one of those artists I had never heard of, but once I found him it was like discovering a new treasure.

There was an album called "Leonard Cohen, I'm You're Fan" that came out back in the early 1990's that had some really great covers of his work. It's one of my favorites.

Leonard Cohen - The Future

DrHGuy says...

This is a great performance. I do offer a couple of clarifications. Leonard Cohen was 74 at the time of this concert; he turned 75 Sept 21, 2009. You may also note that the lyrics shown are the original words During the World Tour, "Give me crack and anal sex" have been replaced by "Give me crack and careless sex." This shift is not new but has been invoked intermittently since the song was first released. Finally you might be interested in Cohen's latest songs. During the Leonard Cohen World Tour, 3 songs, Feels So Good (AKA The Other Blues Song), The Darkness, and Lullaby have been played for the 1st time, raising speculation they may be released on a new album. While each has been sung only a few times, multiple versions exist with different lyrics and arrangements. A summary of each song's performances and lyrics with videos and mp3s can be found at these posts:
“ Lullaby ”
“ The Darkness ”
“ Feels So Good ”

Glad you like it. Just quietly, I have a few Teddy Thompson tunes in my pq, one of which is another Leonard Cohen song, and another is a duet with Rufus Wainwright.

Teddy and Rufus are good mates.

Surely the world's greatest ever song writer. He's a living legend, but I prefer this version more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy0Bl18qLvw

Sheeeit, so do I, now! Thanks for that! He sounds very slightly like Rufus Wainwright.

took long enough for the reply, at least it was a good one.

YES, I watched the entire thing, all the while waiting for the funny sassy part. No I did not know who he was nor care, and "great music " is in the ears of the listener, I did not hear great music. I did hear music though. I think its pointless because its five minutes of westsyde story music, infused with fifteen seconds of "sass" as the title clearly did not state so much would have to be gone through to see what I consider less then "sass". I understand you have a hard on for the guy and the music but I sure dont and I dont feel the same way about the video. Although I do appreciate the final explanation. Maybe you should get some weed, twas lame to say such a thing to me, had nothing to do with my missing the point of your post. I still think its a waste of space, but then again there are so many videos on here as such, I know I have many of them too.

Did you watch the whole thing? Do you know who Leonard Berstein is? Do you appreciate great music? Have you ever seen West Side Story? If you answered "yes" to two or more of these questions, I have no idea why you think this video is pointless. It's awesome because Berstein is one of the greatest and most influential composers of our time, and you get to watch him conducting music from one of his greatest works: West Side Story. Also, he looks funny when he conducts, it's amusing when he sasses the mix team at the end, and it's cool listening to this great music as it's being made. This is one of the least pointless videos I've seen on the Sift. Maybe you should lay off the weed.

am I effin missing something ? or do you people just have better weed then I do. the video is pointless ? ? ?
