Johnny Cash & June Carter - If I were a Carpenter
one of the awesome things about being 19 and marrying white trash is how all summer long all your trailer trash in-laws through parties in fields with old pick up trucks, and beer, and joints, and 23154654321 little babies, and things get lit on fire and shot with guns and otherwise blown up and other things get cooked, and everyone thinks its great if you put this song on repeat and sing it loudly and never ever cut your hair and refuse to wear shoes or bras and take your mother in laws sun dresses from the 70s and dance around in these fields with all the babies on your hip. and sometimes it sprinkles rain and is beautiful.
see the appeal?
my rich mormon parents never have parties in someone elses field with shot guns and johnny cash albums.
The Highwaymen - Highwayman (Music Video)
Watching this I am once again reminded of how much I like Johnny Cash. And Willie.

were fucking punk rock rougy
We put the funk in the fucking punk
Cause it feels like skunk
Filling up my lungs
The good kind
So fine
Makes you dream of sunshine
While you're waiting to meet Johnny Rotten
Who is not forgotten
Like some thunder in my coat
So have another toke
My bitching ass beautiful
Boulevard Betty

rasch dear, nothing is more rocknroll than johnny cash and stealing shit from work.
There's just something about a giant bowtie, a denim vest and hillbilly guitar that makes me reluctant to allow it in the channel. Now if Johnny was biting the head off a mule while injecting heroin into his eyeball on the other hand...

Roy Orbison & Johnny Cash - Pretty Woman
The Johnny Cash Show was on the air from 69-71 so this is *vintage
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Incredibly moving. I can barely watch this without profound sadness threatening to overwhelm me. Johnny Cash was one of my favourite artists as a child and I had just rediscovered him maybe a year before he passed away. Now just hearing this song on the radio is enough to bring a tear to my eye.
He was one of the best and is missed.

Bob Dylan - It Ain't Me Babe (Rolling Thunder Revue - 1975)
^Johnny Cash's version is based on the original Dylan version of the song (which isn't funky at all):
