Unwanted: Muslims Next Door (complete documentary)

quantumushroom says...

UNWANTED is right.

http://www.stopshariahnow.org

Little by little Shariah is creeping into our society, as per the following examples:

*footbaths in banks & airports (Minneapolis)
*polygamy (USA & UK)
*forced child marriages (Europe & Canada)
*honor killings (USA, Canada, Europe)
*spousal abuse among Muslim immigrant populations (USA & Europe)
*Islamic holidays replacing American holidays like Labor Day (Tyson Foods)
*publicly funded Shariah-Islamic schools (Virginia, NY, Minnesota)
*companies creating Islamic prayer rooms (Wachovia)
*nurses required to turn beds towards Mecca five times a day (UK)
*elimination of wine and alcohol at hotels (Hyatt)
*separation of men and women for recreation activities (Harvard)
*taxi drivers refusing to pick up passengers with wine, alcohol or seeing eye dogs (Minneapolis)
*and a growing Shariah Finance investment market supported by Citibank, UBS, HSBC, Dow Jones, Standard & Pours, and nearly every national investment bank you can think of, which is branding “Shariah” as some innocuous religious accommodation required by “moderate” Muslims

Muslim school of love and tolerance

Up until just after the 1960's children in our schools were taught that it's a wonderful thing that we massacre'd the Native Population. There was even a little boy in a cartoon telling everyone how he wishes he was there killing them when they would wait to the men went out hunting and massacre the women and children.
Also in the 60's there was an exhibit in a museum where children could play on a Blackhawk helicopter and fire on a Vietnamese village.
I'm not saying this isn't a good video I upvoted it...I'm just pointing out that we should look in the fucking mirror. QM I'm looking at you.

It's great, and it's necessary, that people in all cultures are capable of being self-aware, but I don't think it's at all important or relevant to what's being taught, and done, in Islamic schools in The United Kingdom. Say what you want about the UK - its faults are many - but it's not a 13th century culture. What's being demonstrated here is repulsive and poisonous, and not enough people are taking this seriously.*

Yeah, we've messed up. America's messed up pretty bad and Europe in general has a horrible track record. When you're in the road and the car is coming, don't pause to contemplate all those times you cut people off in your ridiculous SUV. Fucking move.

*(not enough people are taking this seriously who aren't paranoid, xenophobic racists who can't compute 2 plus 2 without thinking there's a brown man under the bed)

Islam: A black hole of progress.

It's not an academic paper, just an opinion piece. So I conclude you haven't taken a look. I recommend that you do.

Your implication of racism is nonsense.

I was never convinced by that or the contribution of any religion.
Here's a quote from a very good article (which covers Christianity as well) "Myth of Islamic Contribution to Human Civilization" by Muhammed A. Hussain.
"Thus, the Islamic Golden Age is a time, which was characterized by the development of a rather anti-Islamic Mutazili theology, inspired by the rational reasoning and freethinking of the pre-Christianity Greek Rationalism. And those Muslims scholars, who enriched science, mathematics, medicine, philosophy and rational thinking - the defining elements of the Islamic Golden Age, belonged to the un-Islamic Mutazili school, unlike contemporary Sunni Islamic scholars, such as al-Bukhari, Abu Daud and Imam Ghazali et al., of the true Islamic school. Given these facts, it is totally untenable and silly to claim that the golden era of progress and prosperity of Islamic world was ever positively influenced by Islam but instead, it was made possible because true Islamic ideology took the back seat during that era."

What about the history of Islam? All the scientists and developments that came from it?
What's the video's author suggesting that we eliminate a religion because it's not producing enough science?
I upvoted so that people can see this video...and hopefully take away from it that it doesn't matter if you're smart or if you're stupid...you can still be really dumb and prejudiced.

So you've got one paper...good for you.
Look this is just racism plain and simple...it's just nicer than QMs form of racism. Put a nice face on it...Liberal commentators during the cold war were explaining why the Russians say "No" all the time at the UN. They came to the conclusion with the support of psychiatrists that it was because Russian mothers dress their babies in swaddling clothes that doesn't allow them to move. This was an academically supported reason for why they wouldn't cooperate at the UN supported by experts. So when I see stuff like this...it's just obvious bullshit and furthermore it doesn't mean a goddamn thing to me. You're just trying to say one thing by hiding behind another...ok but it's not that hard to see through.

Former ISI Chief: Mumbai and 9/11 Both Inside Jobs

Farhad2000 says...

The ISI are not supporters of the Taliban in the classical sense, they merely facilitated the CIA's transmission of funds and stinger missiles to help defeat the Russians in the 80s.

After that they pushed for a Pashtun government via support of Taliban and religious Islamic schools, bankrolled for a while by Saudi Arabia (which subsequently pulled out when the Taliban clarified that they don't take orders from anybody).

The ISI still supported the taliban, as a trade route that connected it with Central Asia was too lucrative not to mention a Pashtun majority government in general (comparative advantage given a possible India/Pakistan war). Their games got ahead of themselves as alot of ISI got involved in the illegal activities.

Perhaps you haven't been attentive when watching interviews where the subject is asked to defend something typical of Islam or a common Muslim viewpoint.
Here's a brief exchange I heard a few months ago on a talk show:
Western interviewer: You are a well respected Imam that has chosen to immigrate to a Western nation. One concern that many people have is the treatement of women in Muslim countries. For instance, violence towards women seems to be a particular aspect that worries many people.
Muslim: That is a very interesting question, and the Koran is very clear on the matter. I read in the paper today that (insert western-sounding name here) was convicted for raping a woman. Do you know that there are hundreds of shelters for abused women in THIS country? Your government spent X many million dollars last year to fight against spousal abuse. It is very ignorant to think that the maltreatement of women is typical of a Muslim men. Islam is a religion of peace, we do not encourage violence of any kind.

That's the basics of it: divert, guilt, evade. Many Islamic schools in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia provide entire courses on how to handle critical (and sympathetic) interviewers. They have it down to a science.

All I'm saying is that is a particular brand of Islam. Just like John Haggee offers a particular form of christianity, which is equally vile. Watch some documentaries by moderate muslims like this one to see that many are working against the fundamentalists. Whether the extremists try to act like moderates in public or not is not what I take issue with, as they do. The problem I have is to say there are no moderates.

If you fail to recognize the moderates then you turn a war within Islam against the extremists into war with all Muslims, moderate and extremist alike.
