As far as HL2-E3, I have no problem with the long dev cycle.

Unlike some companies, when Valve spends a long time working on a game they generally produce something worth waiting for.

I just restarted HL2 again for nostalgia. This is a great vid of a super creepy level... but it makes it seem a lot less creepy this way.

No its not , if i took some assets from doom3 which is a FPS , then presented them over the top of super maroi game play the new game would not be doom3 , it would More maroi than doom3,

The game these guys have made/used is nothing like Hl2,

It would be quite exciting if thay had maby modded source in some way to use these data pionts which is enterly possable and what i presumed thay did at first due to the title , the fact that it was some crappy flash game was just disappointing,

no my point is the title is disingenuous by saying thay were using hl2 I thought it would be a 3d environment that thay were navigating through and shooting things with real guns, not shooting at a 2d game environment.

secondary to that its not hard to make a basic flash game and if you are going to go to the effort why use Hl2 assets why not use something more appropriate to this project.

You could have had windows with guys that pop up , or like vertualized targets that then tell you right away where u hit. This would have a practical application and would be far more cool than a badly implemented flash game.

I picked this game up on a trial once, and here's how the tutorial/introduction welcomed me to the game:

That was the best this game had to offer me at the time i gave it a try. An endless loop of mining/selling minerals to buy a BIGGER SHIP!!!!! .......to sell more minerals with. Genuinely, that was what i was greeted with and that's what the game suggested to me, it was many years ago, perhaps the introduction is a lot more enticing these days.

And don't get me wrong, i played everquest from the day it started, the learning curve/difficulty in that game was hard as shit, but it drew me in, and that's something EVE has completely failed to do with me.

Boring, boring and boring are the three words i'd use to describe my experiences with EVE, and if a game doesn't snag your interest, it doesn't matter if it turns into HL1, HL2, quake, duke nuken forever and duke nukem 3d all wrapped into one, cos you'll never play it enough to get to that point. It's got to make you want to play.

Also, as a coincidence, i played in a TF2 clan with a guy called "lofty", who perpetrated one of the biggest ever EVE scams (so i was told) that pretty much every EVE player knows about. It was big enough to affect the whole game, iirc.
