The Final Scene From Andrei Tartovsky's Incredible 'Solaris'

Lily Tomlin VS David O. Russell on the set of Huckabees

theo47 says...

Best part is the end, where Russell comes in and screams at Tomlin to "act like an adult", as the set is being cleared.

He berated the crew on Three Kings (one of my all-time favorite movies) and he and George Clooney got in a fistfight over it.

Don't know how many more movies he'll get to make, now that these videos are hitting the internets. That this made it off the set means he pissed someone else off, too.

Andrea Bocelli's "Con Te Partiro" at Fountains of Bellagio

Farhad2000 says...

Using a dramatic combination of music, water and light, the Bellagio delivers spectacular performances with its majestic fountains.

Every evening, time briefly seems to stop in front of the Bellagio. Running every 15 minutes or every half-hour, depending on the time of year, the animated fountains are impossible to simply walk past. Cleverly orchestrated to a variety of songs -- from "One, Singular Sensation," featured on Broadway, to "Fly Me To The Moon," written by Bart Howard and made famous by Frank Sinatra -- the fountains appear to come to life with every note.

Spanning across the quarter-mile-long lake in front of the Bellagio, the free show generally lasts between five and 10 minutes. However, performances are hindered by inclement weather.

The fountains were created by WET Design, a Southern California firm responsible for other well-known displays of water and light, including the LeapFrog Fountain at Disney World's EPCOT, the Sky Rockets at Chicago's Navy Pier and the Universal CityWalk Fountain.

The $40 million Bellagio fountain show is equipped with 1,200 nozzles and 4,500 lights, making it the most expensive and ambitious water feature the company ever has done.

The Bellagio fountains have been made famous through appearances on the silver screen. The fountains were most notably highlighted in the remake of "Ocean's Eleven," starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.

To complement the fountain design, provided by WET Design's Claire Kahn, the Bellagio brought in outside professionals to develop the show, including composer/conductor Gerard Schurmann ("Lawrence of Arabia") and choreographer Kenny Ortega ("Dirty Dancing").

The range of movement across the lake is varied; some of the movement is continuous, responding to the smooth passages of music, while other water jets are rapidly pulsing, reaching heights as high as 240 feet.

With a wide array of musical selections and choreography, you could easily sit in front of the fountains all night and never see the same performance twice. Even those in passing cars on the Strip feel compelled to pull to the side and take in the show.

Classic Gong Show - Popsicle licking twins

theo47 says...

The Gong Show is infamous for several especially salacious escapades. The most memorable was an act called "Have You Got a Nickel" (better known as "The Popsicle Twins"), which consisted of two women, made up to look like teenaged girls, sitting on stage and provocatively sucking Popsicles while the song "I'm in the Mood for Love" played. According to Barris in an interview years later, the censors would regularly nix acts that he thought were safe enough to air. So, he made it a point to submit acts to the censors that were totally over the line so that some of the questionable ones would slip through. The Popsicle Twins was, in Chuck's mind, totally over the line and he submitted it as a stalking horse. While legend has it the Popsicle Twins were only seen on the East Coast because the switchboards were flooded with complaints as soon as it aired, and edited out before broadcasts in other time zones - it was, in fact, seen on the West Coast. Jaye P. Morgan wouldn't allow either of the other 2 judges to hit the Gong & when the girls finished - she said "That's how I got started." The Gong Show Movie includes ten seconds of footage from this act.

Another watershed moment was when Jaye P. Morgan ripped off her top and exposed her breasts while Gene Gene was dancing. Supposedly, that act resulted in Ms. Morgan's firing from the show. Like the Popsicle Twins, this can also be seen in The Gong Show Movie.

Incidentally, if you're never read Confessions of a Dangerous Mind or seen the movie version directed by George Clooney, I highly recommend picking them both up. Barris is actually a really funny, smart, and talented guy.

"David Duchovny" by Bree Sharp (many X-Files & celebrity cameos)

theo47 says...

Bootlegged from a video the X-Files crew made for Duchovny after hearing Bree Sharp's song. I know the quality's not great, but this is the first copy I've seen where the audio syncs up, so it could be worse.

You'll recognize the X-Files actors & Chris Carter, the creator - but here are the celebrity cameos, in order:
Janeane Garofalo, Charles Nelson Reilly, two "Baywatch" babes, Garofalo again, Jerry O'Connell, Alex Trebek, the women of "Frasier", Erik Estrada, Hector Elizondo, Kevin Nealon, Calista Flockhart, Rosie O'Donnell & Whoopi Goldberg, Melissa Etheridge, Jenna Elfman, Gary Shandling, Dennis Franz, Brad Pitt, David Spade, Sarah Michelle Gellar, George Clooney (in a wig), Pam Anderson, KISS, three porn stars (because Duchovny admitted in an interview he likes porn), and Jerry Springer.
