ELP-Fanfare For the Comman Man
13131The rock legend is that ELP recorded this and then found out that an elderly Aaron Copeland personally held the rights to record and perform his composition. They visited the composer at his home and played a tape of their version for his approval. He was delighted and reportedly said that when he was composing the song in his head he dreamed it could have the kind of power and impact that the ELP performance had given it for the first time in the thousands of performances he had heard. Magnificent music.

This was the winter of '76-'77 in the Olympic stadium...they went there for a Rehersal to see what will be the sound for their incoming Aug. 26 1977 show in Montreal.
I was there! I saw the trucks comming there to dump the stock there for this rehersal!
And i was there for this amazing show.
Great memories......
Personal memories of this year, twas the first concert I missed (12 yrs old) Brain Salad Surgery Tour, ELP opened for Lynnard Skynnard in Dallas, parents went, all they could say about ELP was their ears hurt they were so loud.......Lightweights!!!!
