Japan in Autumn - (autumn)

Fusionaut says...

>> ^artician:
It is stunning, but it's also got heavy, heavy post production, which kind of defeats the purpose.
I'd down vote this or call lies if I could, simply because it's so over produced.

The purpose was to create art using video as the medium. If the artist chose to alter the raw material that's up to him. And it's definitely not lies. Artists use 'lies' to tell the truth.

Stevie Wonder - I just called to say I love you (live)

gwiz665 says...

No New Year's Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of spring
No song to sing
In fact here's just another ordinary day

No April rain
No flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
But what it is, is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

No summer's high
No warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze
No falling leaves
Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies

No Libra sun
No Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is, though old so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart, of my heart,
of my heart

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart, of my heart,
baby of my heart

Firekites // Autumn Story

The Halloween Theme (Sift Talk Post)

SlipperyPete says...

IT'S DECORATIVE
GOURD SEASON, MOTHERFUCKERS.
BY COLIN NISSAN

- - - -

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get my hands on some fucking gourds and arrange them in a horn-shaped basket on my dining room table. That shit is going to look so seasonal. I'm about to head up to the attic right now to find that wicker fucker, dust it off, and jam it with an insanely ornate assortment of shellacked vegetables. When my guests come over it's gonna be like, BLAMMO! Check out my shellacked decorative vegetables, assholes. Guess what season it is—fucking fall. There's a nip in the air and my house is full of mutant fucking squash.

I may even throw some multi-colored leaves into the mix, all haphazard like a crisp October breeze just blew through and fucked that shit up. Then I'm going to get to work on making a beautiful fucking gourd necklace for myself. People are going to be like, "Aren't those gourds straining your neck?" And I'm just going to thread another gourd onto my necklace without breaking their gaze and quietly reply, "It's fall, fuckfaces. You're either ready to reap this freaky-assed harvest or you're not."

Carving orange pumpkins sounds like a pretty fitting way to ring in the season. You know what else does? Performing an all-gourd reenactment of an episode of Diff'rent Strokes—specifically the one when Arnold and Dudley experience a disturbing brush with sexual molestation. Well, this shit just got real, didn't it? Felonies and gourds have one very important commonality: they're both extremely fucking real. Sorry if that's upsetting, but I'm not doing you any favors by shielding you from this anymore.

The next thing I'm going to do is carve one of the longer gourds into a perfect replica of the Mayflower as a shout-out to our Pilgrim forefathers. Then I'm going to do lines of blow off its hull with a hooker. Why? Because it's not summer, it's not winter, and it's not spring. Grab a calendar and pull your fucking heads out of your asses; it's fall, fuckers.

Have you ever been in an Italian deli with salamis hanging from their ceiling? Well then you're going to fucking love my house. Just look where you're walking or you'll get KO'd by the gauntlet of misshapen, zucchini-descendant bastards swinging from above. And when you do, you're going to hear a very loud, very stereotypical Italian laugh coming from me. Consider yourself warned.

For now, all I plan to do is to throw on a flannel shirt, some tattered overalls, and a floppy fucking hat and stand in the middle of a cornfield for a few days. The first crow that tries to land on me is going to get his avian ass bitch-slapped all the way back to summer.

Welcome to autumn, fuckheads!

BANanarama - Cruel Autumnal Equinox (Wtf Talk Post)

Raglan Road sung by Luke Kelly

lampishthing says...

It's called On Raglan Road - it's a poem by Patrick Kavanagh set to the music of the Dawning of the Day.

We had to study this in school :-)

On Raglan Road - Patrick Kavanagh

On Raglan Road on an autumn day I met her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare that I might one day rue;
I saw the danger, yet I walked along the enchanted way,
And I said, let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day.

On Grafton Street in November we tripped lightly along the ledge
Of the deep ravine where can be seen the worth of passion's pledge,
The Queen of Hearts still making tarts and I not making hay -
O I loved too much and by such and such is happiness thrown away.

I gave her gifts of the mind I gave her the secret sign that's known
To the artists who have known the true gods of sound and stone
And word and tint. I did not stint for I gave her poems to say.
With her own name there and her own dark hair like clouds over fields of May

On a quiet street where old ghosts meet I see her walking now
Away from me so hurriedly my reason must allow
That I had wooed not as I should a creature made of clay -
When the angel woos the clay he'd lose his wings at the dawn of day.

Les Cowboys Fringants "Toune d'Automne"

***English translation follows

=====

How's it going little sister?
Come so that I can hug you
So, did you rediscover happiness
On your trip to Canada?
Back here nothing much happened this year...
It was a bit morose...

I hope at least it was fun down there
I'm proud that didn't bring me
A brother-in-law from Alberta
That would have bothered me a bit
Swear that this time you're staying home...for good

Anyway I'm glad you came back
You came with the autumn
You know it really made me grieve
To see you go my cutie...

Here there's papa recovering from his little operation
You should have seen him freaking out, had to treat him like royalty
And mama worried all year
Because of you

For my part I decided
To stop being a bum
I'm going back to university
We'll see what happens
But you know me I'm not motivated more than I need to be
That's not new...

Anyway I'm glad you came back
You came with the autumn
You know it really made me grieve
To see you go my cutie...

I saw Simon last month
Didn't seem to feel too good
He told me that you hadn't called him
Since his birthday in February
If you don't like him anymore maybe you shouldn't string him along
He's a good buddy

And you my little sister
Are you still as lost as before?
Is it still doom and gloom?
Or have you gotten control of it?
You know that life is littered with little miseries
No need to worry...

Anyway I'm glad you came back
You came with the autumn
You know it really made me grieve
To see you go my cutie...

Anyway I'm glad you came back
You came with the autumn

The Cove: Sundance Film Exposes Japanese Dolphin Slaughter

SlipperyPete says...

I just saw this at the HotDocs festival here in Toronto yesterday. Very powerful & shocking story, again showing how collectively humans are killing the planet.

The director said last night they've been picked up for distribution by Maple Pictures - keep an eye out in late summer/early autumn for screenings. This one is a must-see film.
