So, the father of my children is quite literally too sick/mentally ill to work. He now gets social security disability income. A small portion of which my children are entitled to. About a 2 years ago he knocked up another mentally ill drug addict. His brother's ex-wife is now raising that baby. She's a saint and I adore her. 

She finally got the asshat birth father to sign the papers saying he is that babies biological father. So now, my kids half-brother is also entitled to a portion of the social security disability income. This does not bother me.

  I got a letter in the mail today saying that my childrens benefit is now going to be reduced by 1/3 (of what was a pretty tiny amount to begin with) to pay benefits to their brother. The birth dad loses $0 of his benefit.  $0. 

He is legitimately too sick to work. He's not scamming anyone. The policy, however, is messed up. This asshat can continue to knock up as many 19 year old drug addicts as will have him and his existing children and the women raising them will continue to foot the bill. 

 Does anyone know anything about the SSA or family law or policies that apply to this situation? It says I have 10 days to dispute and I would like to dispute on grounds that this policy sucks. But I'm afraid that probably isn't a legitimate complaint.
