Impending Absence
My grandpa decided to stop his dialysis treatment, so he is not going to live to see December. When he dies, I am not going to take it very well, so don't expect to see me around much until late 2008/early 2009.

thinking about you. best wishes.
I told someone close to me about you. You are in our thoughts, Nibiyabi. Come back to us if you need a place to escape to.
I lost both my grandfather and uncle in just a short span of 3 months. It really sucks, but you'll recover. Just remember to do and say what you need to, while he's still around with you. I never got to do that with mine and it still comes back to haunt me sometimes.
Best regards.
Yea...

You spend some quality time with your grandpa. Play him his favorite music. Ask him about his life. Hold his hand. You have the opportunity to say goodbye, which is not always the case.
Life is too short, and there isn't anything anyone can say to make this easier. Just know that we all love you, and will be here patiently waiting your return. Take care of yourself.
Hang tough.
Update: He's decided he wants to go back on dialysis. He wasn't pressured by anyone -- in fact, we all supported him in his initial decision and understood what drove him to make it. He's already had his treatment today and in effect missed only one treatment. We are back to having no idea how much longer he can hold on. I already took this Friday off so I'm still going to see him, but the mood should be much cheerier. I'm relieved yet at the same time rather confused and pained. At least I get to have my grandpa for a few precious extra days, weeks, or months.
