Fluke!

Yeah, a fluke, a fancy trick gone wrong. He looks up and there are players in the box so I'm pretty sure he was trying a fancy cross and messed it up, got lucky. That leg-around-standing-leg-toe-poke move is very difficult, even to pull off a decent cross would be an achievement.

The "crossed-kick" is known as a Rabona and Italian player Giovanni Roccotelli is credited with inventing it in the 1970s.
