Seattle Dog rides the bus to a dog park by herself

LiveLeak description:

Seeing a dog on a public bus is a rare sight indeed, but for a dog to board a bus all by itself, well, that’s just downright odd. That’s exactly what a Seattle dog named Eclipse does, and she’s learned how to ride the bus all by herself, according to locals.

The passengers don’t seem to mind, as most say it breaks up the mundane ride on a city bus. According to commuter Tiona Rainwater, “All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does. She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?”

Fellow rider and local radio host Miles Montgomery recently saw Eclipse, snapped a pic with her, and posted it on social media. “It doesn’t really appear to have an owner.

The dog gets off at the dog park. I just look out the window and I’m like, ‘did that just happen?'”
the DJ explained. “She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn’t figure out what that was.

It was really just about seeing where her stop was.”As it turns out, Eclipse’s owner, Jeff Young,
has been taking that bus route to the dog park and notes, “She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog.” Young would usually leave his apartment to head to the bus stop with Eclipse, stopping for a smoke break while he waited.

If a bus arrived before he was done with his cigarette, he would let it pass. However, knowing they were headed to a dog park, Eclipse had enough one day and was done waiting – so the pup got on the bus alone. They end up meeting just a few stops away at the dog park, and now it’s common practice for Eclipse to get a head start. Although most locals know about Eclipse, Young says he still gets the occasional call from a stranger telling him Eclipse is on the bus by herself.

Young states, “I have to tell them, ‘no. She’s fine.’ She knows what she’s doing.’”

A spokesman for Metro Transit stated that both the company and riders alike all enjoy when Eclipse boards a bus. He then sarcastically added, “She would be much safer in the world if she had her owner on a leash.”
