I have to say good on ya' to the people of Washington for their enlightened, and shame to the people of Maine for their hate-driven choice to deny equal rights to all citizens.

That said, it's a shame that this has be voted on, exposing a repressed minority to the tyranny of the majority. It's not much different here in Canada, though it is a more civil situation. What it has come down to repeatedly, mostly due to the cowardice of politicians, is decisions in the courts extending equal-rights to gays and lesbians.
