Micheal Cera Fired from Knocked Up

Nah, he wasn't really fired. But the comedian-run site FunnyOrDie.com nonetheless posted a video where Michael Cera (known best for his role as George Michael Bluth on Arrested Development) auditions for the starring role in Knocked Up – a role that eventually went to Seth Rogen. Considering how un-audition-y the scene is – extras are viewable in the background, Katherine Heigl is present, etc – this "audition" clip is more than likely a clever viral video/marketing ploy for Knocked Up, not unlike the "leaked" deleted scene released a few days back.

The video, viewable below, is funny in a Michael Cera sort of way; he understates everything, makes every sentence perfectly awkward, and somehow remains believable despite the fact that he's talking about having sex with Katherine Heigl, who, in addition to being absurdly hot, is a good decade older than him.

It's only an "audition" as a goof - no one auditions on a fully dressed set.
This was obviously done between actual takes on the movie.

Cera's got a part in "Superbad", which I believe the director of "Knocked Up" is producing, hence his appearance here.

No, I think that this is intended to be Michael Cera's and Judd Apatow's Lily Tomlin/Russell moment. The Huckabees stuff has been passed from crew to crew for a few years. A friend of mine who worked as a PA on a Russell film said that almost every day was like this clip.

a sentence!, a good sentence! that's good on film . . .

brilliant
