You show me a fighter that can do it all I'll show you a perfect unarmed warrior. Too often MMA is a series quick brawls. Too often boxing is a long drawn out tit for tat fight.

They are both just another spectacle to keep people amused. As to which one is better in a street fight? Real combat has no rules, and that's why gunpowder caught on.

I watch UFC. Sadly I haven't gotten into the other leagues. Most of the non-entertaining fights I find stem from the rules being done up by boxing commissions. If they mixed a few things from Pride into UFC it would be fantastic.

- Make the first round longer.
- Make non-aggression be a heavy penalty.
- Allow draws, or deal with draws in a logical way.

You don't watch much MMA do you? Watch Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin 2 or Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin.

Also, MMA would be much much more effective in a street fight than boxing, because it encompasses a much larger subset of what can happen in a street fight. Brazilian Jiujitsu, not sport Brazilian Jiujitsu (there's a big difference) was designed for self defense.
