Red Bull paid apparently $2 million for this stunt 5 years ago (Robbie Madison). If it all didn't go to the rider, they got it cheap. He suffered one injury---lacerated the flesh between his thumb and forefinger on the way back down.

In other news---
His girlfriend of the time appears to have had strasbismus---
and having completed the stunt, he is reported to have said he would not do it again for $10 million.
