How the Lord of the Rings forced perspectives

This is pretty cool; the manufacturing of perspective for the Lord of the Rings movies. Looks like it owes something to Lenny Dykstra's work and also the ILM studios motion capture technology.

Moving TWO sleds (camera and one of the objects) is the coolest trick.

Takes serious acting chops too, because Ian McKellen is looking deliberately into nothingness on the set while appears to look directly at his acting counterpart...
