Three guys snuck to the top of Freedom Tower in NYC to make a BASE Jump. They got away with it that night, but the NYPD pursued them with a few months of hard detective work and made good use of all the cellphone info subpoena type tools now available to them in order to catch the perps. Now they might get seven years in jail.

Judge for yourself - was it worth the expense and effort considering what they did? Keep in mind that absolutely no property was damaged, and this was intentionally done with a lot of preparation at a time where risk to anyone else is virtually zero.
