This shows that evolution is an intrinsic property of any system where offspring are different from their parent, and suffer environmental attrition. Life is such a system.

... reproduction is the key; can't become dead, sterile, uncompetitive for mates or isolated from the opposite sex.

Also worth noting that this simplified simulation looks like it has unrealistically small population sizes, so that results are seen within 10 or 20 generations.
