i'd say it also helps and has helped a great deal of people, myself included.

Guess what word was found through surveys to be the most annoying: "whatever" (BBC Oct 13, 2009). As a psychotherapist, I respect Freud's success in exposing the fact that there is an uncounscious, something not realized before. That he fucked up a great many people's lives is news to me. Was the number of fucked up lives in the tens, hundreds, thousands, etc. ? In what manner were they fucked up. Just wondering.

let's see.. where to begin? repression? that's harmful nonsense. seduction theory? whoops... nonsense. pretty harmful, wouldn't you say? or are you comfortable with the idea of the oedipus complex? id, ego, superego? oh.. nonsense. dream interpretation? ....... oh gosh it's nonsense! and looooooooooads more.

to be fair, he had good intentions, and he renounced some of this later on. but the fact that people STILL peddle this crap.... and defend it. even here.
