Eco-Burial at GreenSprings Cemetery

"Greensprings offers a sustainable and beautiful alternative to conventional cemeteries. It is a place of meadows and woodlands, where you may choose native trees and shrubs for planting on your gravesite, helping to restore the land to it natural state and providing shelter and food for wildlife." - from the Greensprings website: http://naturalburial.org/

Pretty good idea if you ask me. I'm not planning to die any time soon, but as I despise the "normal" christian burial and the uselessness of the coffins and so forth, this option seems rather nice.

There's one of these not too far from where my family lives. I've mentioned what a nice idea this is. (my husband looked at me like I was nuts)
Funeral homes and cemeteries are so unbelievably expensive and for what? Cremation makes more sense, but if you want to go back to the earth the way nature intended...why not this?

I'm going for cremation myself (not that I plan to die anytime soon. At least I hope not), but if that wasn't possible, I sure wouldn't mind for my body to be buried in a nice green hill, and a big tree living on top of me. That's a thing of beauty and a lot more poetic.
