The Convention began with a highly-debated decision to change the Convention rules despite not getting the needed majority of “nays.” The convention began on a negative note when controversial temporary convention rules were adopted. Sanders supporters had been worried about these rules for weeks and had collected delegate signatures to seek changes to the rules. A verbal vote was called for the rule changes at 9:30am while delegates were still trying to get into the convention. Roberta Lange the chairwoman ignored the outrage of the delegates that had made it in, passing the rule changes without a majority agreement.

64 Bernie delegates were purged, and not allowed to vote.

They 'counted' the delegates and despite the appearance of a majority of Bernie delegates at the convention the official count was:
Clinton - 1695
Sanders - 1662

Bernie delegates demand a recount putting a motion on the floor.
The motion was denied by Roberta Lange ignoring a vote.
Police were called to clear out the delegates.
