A suppressed M-16 assault rifle sounds like a sewing machine

So, this video makes little or no sense to me. I get the idea of a video game and film suppressed weapon is supposed to sound like. I get, or I think I get, the contribution that using subsonic ammunition makes (no sonic "crack" as you fire it). I get that the baffles and whatnot can't make it silent.

WTF because of the video below which basically says---"hey, suppressors take the sound from an intolerable 150+ decibels to a mere 110ish decibels"

How, in the heck, then do we make sense of this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3VITZ6-CcY

in which a guy does an apparently good job of illustrating that a suppressor won't work the way the one in this video does. Confusing.
