Yeah, I was aware I had the ability as a diamond, just thought it wouldn´t work on my own post since thats what it said in your sifttalk description of it.
That´s why I didn´t try it first on the post mentioned below.

But apparently it works anyway, so I hope it´s there to stay

In reply to this comment by lucky760:
Actually you can do it because you're a diamond, which is the min level required for dupeof.

Hmm. That's definitely an idea worth considering. Seems like it should be fine to allow self dupeof invocations...

Edit: Nevermind, it works! (please leave it on if its a bug
Hey Lucky,

just wondering wether it might be a good idea to make *dupeof available on your own submissions and here is why:

More often than not someone catches the dupe that either doesn´t know about the merge possibility or has not enough rank to invoke it. Usually both times people just leave a "dupe" with the link.

Now of course I´d love to merge the dupe with the original, but can´t.
Surely there is a reason for this limit, but I can´t think of it, since it doesn´t improve your own vote count or such...

I realize this is a powerful invocation that should not be misused, but that has already been taking care of with limiting it to bronze diamonds, no?

Cheers,
maatc

Thanks, could you do me a favor and merge the two with the new *dupeof command?
That way the other two votes wont get lost.
I´d do it myself, but you can´t invoke it on your own clips...

Here is the code for it:
* dupeof=http://www.videosift.com/video/Live-CNN-Hologram-Interview (remove space in front)

Cheers, maatc

Hmm, that´s what I thought. But thanks for the info!

the audio is very low quality, it's mono, 8bit so it's best to look at the camera as not having audio with anything more than a scratch track.

Hey,

just wondering: Does the D90 record sound at all and if it does, is it any good?
I am thinking about getting one of these. Everything I read about it so far seems awesome.

How long can you shoot for exactly? Whats the memory consumption and what format is the video spit out at?
starts saving

The D90 saves the files as AVI, Motion JPEG codec. Files are roughly about 100MB per minute of video. The camera currently allows you to shoot 5 minutes max per video clip, this is reported to be a safety feature to protect the internal parts.

Wow, how flattering! I guess you are referring to the Tribbles clip. Any other examples?

How do I do it? I guess a big part of it is to try to stay on your toes and check everything that crosses your mind for a connection to a video somehow.

In the case of the Tribbles clip it was pure luck: Saw a clip of a little dog on cuteoverload.com with a reference to Tribbles and wondered if the sift has that clip. I was really surprised to find out it did not yet. Then finding the clip and submitting took about 30 seconds.

Could be triggerd by anything though. A news story, somebody on the street that reminds you of an actor, hearing a line from a 20 year old standup act, smelling something that reminds you of childhood, ANYTHING!

You are the master of sifting vids that should've been here. How do you do it? How do you find those vids that should have been here from the get go, but were never sifted? It's uncanny.

No problem, you are welcome! Would have done it in my first comment, but didn´t have enough superpowers

I am not really a gearhead, no. But that doesn´t mean I don`t enjoy videos of some wicked wheels!

I always felt something like "motor" was missing here on the sift and even thought about creating the channel myself when it was my turn. "Wheels" is even nicer, since it is not only limited to the stinky vehicles.

In reply to this comment by schmawy:
Awesome, thanks! You a gear-head, Maatc?
