What Homosexuality Is Not

Look, I think the video itself is quite annoying because yes, I do feel it's a bit preachy.
but the message itself, is quite accurate.
And if it's so obvious, you won't mind stating why homosexuality is not normal.

I totally agree, the video IS "quite accurate," but I stand by my comment. Gays now -quite rightly - are protected by the law, have civil rights and will soon, hopefully, be allowed to marry. They worked hard for their rights, just as woman, and other persecuted minorities, did. My salient point, regarding the video, is that it preaches to the converted, will not change those bigots who will always hate, and that maybe it's time to enjoy their well earned rights and allow time to change the entrenched opinions of the minority. Sadly, going by the comments, ANY criticism of videos like this is tantamount to homophobia, which could NOT be further from the truth.

You are precisely who this video is addressing. YOU are the reason this video exists. YOU, who think that human rights are something "earned" by a minority, not inherent, bestowed upon the disenfranchised who should just feel grateful for the tolerance and generosity of the majority and kindly shut the fuck up about it. You just don't get it.
And THEN, after immortalizing your ignorance and arrogance in prose by releasing it into the ether, not to mention a worldview that likely extends no further than the windshield of your Prius, you refuse to clarify something that should be extremely easy to clarify for someone so enlightened. Yet, you dodge the question by dismissing the asker as incapable of understanding that which you have failed to explain as not worth your time, when, in fact, you are incapable of understanding the question in the first place, as already proven by your demonstrable inability to grasp the underlying issue/reality.
You aren't fooling anybody but yourself.

How you have managed to deduce from my comments that this video is aimed at me is, quite frankly, beyond ignorant. And if you don't think rights are fought for, you know nothing about history. Your notion of equality being a fundamental right is, though commendable, rather childish. In the real world, minorities fight hard to change attitudes and, as with homosexuality, are making good ground which is a credit to them. Now, try reading my comments again with a more objective view and you may, just, see them for support of gay rights and NOT a criticism of them. Sadly though, I doubt you have the ability to do so. I shall not respond again, as you have exhausted my patience.

Yeah, because that's what all our worlds rotate around isn't it? Your patience. Your replies are predictable and very formulaic. Trolls have followed the same blueprint since Compuserve was one of the "Big 3". Let's try something you can actually relate to...

Ya know what, probie? Your eulogising here has started to get tiresome. I mean, be happy that your ilk are allowed to post comments and all that, but do the rest of us have to have your opinions and ideals shoved down our throats just because you can? I mean, I'm happy for you and all... comment away! Seriously, it's something you are allowed to do, so I don't begrudge you that right at all. It's just that... do you have to be so goddamned flamboyant about it?

Water Droplets on a Superhydrophobic Surface

If they coated boat hulls with this stuff, would they cut through the water more efficiently?

No, that's how you make hovercrafts. :-P
But seriously, smooth hulls are actually bad for speed. Ideally you want little pockets of air to make a good boundary for the laminar flow of water going past. Some people even sand the hulls of their racing boats. Think about the dimples on a golf ball, same idea. Although it'd be an awesome product for the windshield of a boat. =)

Yep good point, and if you look at/touch shark skin, it's essentially sand paper; helps them move faster through water apparently.

Russian Man Somersaults After Hit By Car on the Highway

Sepacore says...

At first there did seem like there was something off about this, but if you watch the flip-guy frame by frame, everything makes sense re physics + timing and fits together too well re likelihood.

I think the reason i suspected fake initially was just the bewilderment of someone climbing into their boot to avoid having their legs crashed, little too hard to see if they succeeded, and another guy standing out in the middle of another lane when already in the middle of the road.. but when your focus is on "that car is running up the back of this one and i need to get out of the way" i think it forgivable to make a mistake like that.

His disappearing isn't weird, it's normal. Look at how fast that car is going, think about what the upper portion of your body will do when that mass hits just the lower half of your body, the guy could have died when his head impacted on the windshield due to how quick a transfer of forces took place (but i doubt he died).
(Edit: just read the description where it says he's alive. Lucky guy)

The flipping of the body seems fine, it continues consistently until another force joined the party.. the stopping force of the ground.

The landing, he crumples in on himself at a consistent speed before being flicked back when the combined force of the cars momentum, gravity and the spin all reached a stopping point where his body couldn't crumple any further.. and that compressed force acted like a spring.. that next head smash on the ground looked quite damaging and the arms did what they should have, they went with the existing direction of motion, bending only when the force pushed the elbow joint to the limit, until the forces lessened then biology/psychology survival instinct took over and he went fetal (which suggests he was not only still alive, but also conscious)

... imo

What Can You Do If Someone's Vehicle Has Blocked Your Exit?

Porksandwich says...

>> ^offsetSammy:

Sorry, intentionally putting someone in danger (and those around them, who had no part in it) by messing with their mirrors is NOT the equivalent of being inconvenienced and not being able to get into your car. What you did is pretty irresponsible, regardless of what the other person did to you.
>> ^Porksandwich:
Yeah I think his car would have fit through much earlier on than when he gave up and left. But I think he hit the car next to him when he spun pushing the car on front.
It used to piss me off to no end back when I commuted to college and people would park too close to me, so much so that I couldn't even open my door enough to get into the vehicle. I used to mess with their side mirror settings and then fold them into their car if they were moveable just to give them irritation right back. Nothing like finding out you can't see shit out of your side mirrors once you're already in traffic. Much like not being able to get into your vehicle to get your books and shit out for class without some gymnastics and contortion. That's not even counting all the door dings and paint scratches those pricks gave my vehicle that had just been painted.

That's hardly intentionally putting someone in danger. Hell half the time I'd have to fold theirs and mine in just to make sure I didn't break something when I tried to get in my car. Plus I didn't actually DAMAGE or disable anything on their vehicle, meanwhile I can see the paint from mine on the edge of their doors where they just bash their door into mine because they can't properly handle a vehicle. They should be glad I didn't absolutely ruin the value of their vehicle like they so casually did to mine on top of blocking it in. You park too close where people have to walk between and mirrors are going to be bumped and moved as people squeeze by, especially when you got people lugging 30-50 pound backpacks around. Should learn to park courteously and responsibly.

Plus if YOU don't check your mirrors before YOU start driving, YOU are putting yourself and others in danger. A strong wind can blow your mirrors out of adjustment. Much like not properly cleaning and de-icing your windows and mirrors means you can't see properly...yet people do it ALL the time. Make sure you tell them how they are intentionally putting someone in danger next time you see them not check their mirrors or clean their windshields and side windows before starting out next time. You should also check your oil, brake fluid, coolant levels and light functionality weekly if not daily.

Now if I ran around smearing their windshield wipers with petroleum jelly, something that is not 100% noticeable you might have a point. That's something people used to do, you'd be going down the road in the rain and hit the wipers and suddenly it's like looking through a constantly changing sheet of ice. And you couldn't clean it off your windows without something to cut it.

Blaming others for your inability to follow simple parking guidelines like stay between the lines and stay centered to your parking spot when they have to work around your mistakes.......is your problem. You are responsible for the vehicle you are driving and it's safe operation. I checked my mirrors every day leaving campus, because people bump them all the time when walking between vehicles on their way to class...annoying but not their fault if I smash into a car because I didn't adjust them to be useful. Course now the mirrors have been motorized long enough that most cars have it, even the older models students can afford....so they are stiffer and harder to move by design. Doesn't change your responsibility to make sure the car is road safe before you take it on the road.
