yeah don't worry dude i am not criticising, and yes american is definitely not a race, especially if you are going to say a race is defined by a consistent skin colour, white, black or asian...
it just gets more tricky when you start trying to include other things like "hispanic" as a race... i recommend the christopher walken speech in true romance
and don't get a lithuanian started on "balto-slavic".

anyway it's only really a problem if you start saying one race is better than another. except we all know black guys are good at running...

In reply to this comment by SaNdMaN:
Well, yes, it depends on the context of course. In some ways I consider myself a Russian and in some ways an American. But the fact remains that those aren't races, which is what our argument was about. My race is white or caucasian.

In reply to this comment by MINK:
Well it's funny because you are calling yourself Russian but not living in Russia, which was kind of my point.

It's a personal thing what you call yourself in this mixed up global community, i just find it interesting.

When people ask me where I am from, I say something like "vilnius, born in UK".
When people ask me if i am english I say something like "I am a vilniusian but i have a british passport".

I find it easier to tie my identity to the historically cosmopolitan city of vilnius, not the nation of lithuania (which is a joke) or the nation of the UK (which is also a joke and I really would rather not be associated with it too much). I have lived in Vilnius for 5 years so, i am british by birth only, english by language only. If you wanna invade Vilnius, I might consider defending it. If you wanna invade the UK, be my freaking guest.

Hope that's at least a little bit interesting

Um, I guess you could say that. Why is that so hilarious though?

In reply to this comment by MINK:
Hahahahahaha classic
so you're a bloody yank!

Anyway, where in Russia are you? I still haven't visited... but I would love to go make some music over there...

The Mayor of Vilnius won't allow a gay pride march here, so I guess we will escape the apocalypse. Ha ha!

I have mixed emotions about "gay pride". On one hand I believe it is nice to have a great support network for those that are ridiculously oppressed and stripped of freedoms. On the other hand the idea of having pride in something as trivial as being gay is rather ridiculous in itself.
If being gay is not chosen and you are born with it then it is nothing to have pride in. What's next a foot fetish pride parade? OK we get it, you're gay. Awesome. What makes you special? Really what draws the difference between gay people and straight people? It's what happens in the bedroom so there's really nothing there to be proud about. Sure, have a little cuddle party when you get your partner off after a good f ck but nobody needs to throw a parade for it.
The sooner anybody stops drawing attention to their differences, the sooner everybody will remember that we're all pretty much the same

If you're so concerned about not drawing attention to our differences, stop posting comments. We don't think you're very special either.

Ad hom still tolerated on the Sift (Sift Talk Post)

me too with the cow shoving.
and btw nobody insulted me to start this off, i am just as sick of reading other people insult each other as i would be if someone directed it at me.

the way people diss me, as choggie points out, is more subtle than "fuck you". and i am cool with that, it's part of the game. I post under a false name for this reason, it's a game.

but i think the "fiery threads" are much more fun if everyone accepts that descending into namecalling is strictly off limits.

you should read some of the shit on youtube about whether vilnius belongs to poland or not. daymn, it's a great debate, but on youtube the signal to noise ratio is ridiculous. I would hate to see "tolerance" end up as "laissez faire".

gorgonheap, of course people dislike things other people say, but there is a very very thick black line between "you're talking rubbish, x is ridiculous because y and z" and "stfu retard".

now, i am sure someone would be banned quick if they said "take your black ass outside and hang yourself by the nearest tree"... and thankfully that hasn't happened... yet.

but if someone says "stfu, you're just a brainless conservative troll" they get "tolerated".

Hey, you can find a little more on reverse graffiti here.
Also Graffiti Research Lab is a cool site devoted to taking street art to the next level.
Cheers,
Matthias

but "daytime" is like 8am to midnight, so there is some overlap. from vilnius to san francisco is 9 hours time difference, almost the other side of the world.

Far east is hard to crack because of the language thing.

Australia normally goes some way to filling in the small gap if you can encourage them.

Tesla Electric Car on Nightline

MINK says...

the answer is public transport, but rich middle aged guys are never going to go for that.

here in vilnius i can get a trolleybus to anywhere, and i only have to wait 5 minutes... except that the banks went crazy giving out car loans to everybody, and now private cars with one driver and no passengers are clogging up the city and slowing down the trolleybus.

private cars in a modern city are 90% vanity. the only reason they are everywhere is that people are prepared to pay thousands of dollars so they don't have to sit next to somebody on a bus. Even if global warming doesn't exist, the exhaust fumes, parking space and noise pollution are outrageous.... but there's that vanity thing keeping it all going.
