The Tesla Roadster could well become the first electric production car, with the investment of some 37 million dollars from the creator of PayPal. It is an impressive vehicle, capable of out performing many high powered petroleum based cars.

The first model is to be a high end sports model, since initial production costs would limit market penetration to only early-adopter enthusiasts. The philosophy being that such high cost models will allow funding of further development and improvements, giving a chance for more affordable models for the mass market.

It will be interesting to learn how much it costs on your electricity bill to charge it of a night.
