I think you're talking about my avatar - when you click on it somehow you can see that little videoclip. I think only people with charter membership can do it though. I guess you can't put your dogs on yours!

I too think daft punk was somewhat more likeable when they did their own videoclips :- P

I have personal experience dealing with abusive power tripping cops, but this seems to be like they were provoking the cops until they got arrested so they could make this videoclip. Douches.

Awesome post. I really like the role the bass plays in Dubstep, great bass lines and bass drops I can recommend Dubstep Allstars vol 5. also has the Benga & Coki videoclip at the top on the album.

It's not the easiest program to use, but VLC can definitely do it. It can handle just about any codec and encapsulating formats out there (including mp4). I don't know how to rotate from the regular user interface, but you can launch it from a command line like this:

> vlc --video-filter=rotate{angle=90} videoclip.mp4

Once you've done that, just export it to whatever format you want.

This was originally about Mustaine's alchoholism, but was changed at a late stage to be about youth gun death. Presumably to make it more suitable for commercial airplay, the line "We're not ready to see you yet" was altered from it's original "I'm not ready..." with a videoclip to match the new subject matter.

You can see in the lyrics that the original intention of the song is preserved. The line "99 ways to die" being a poetic reference to that old favourite about beer on the wall.

Jarre was alerting us of a simple fact that not even pink floyd would've the guts to in their entire career - synth music is kitsch.

If at the time, a video like this could suggest such statement, it's Jarre's recent work that really reivindicates it. Not only has he chosen the ugliest forms of electro/synth music since the 80's, he is immitating the younger ones that take dumps on those same forms.

It seems french people labeled Jarre as a composer on the same basket as contemporary erudite composers. The kind of composers who don't need videoclips but whenever one is out it never is as ridicule as this one.

Jarre is certainly a phenomenon. But look cauciously and on one side he doesn't deliver as Ravel nor as Johnny Haliday on the other side.

I can't believe I have never searched for VAST on videosift before. One of my all time favourite bands.

@aspartam: Third World fireworks I suppose. Firing into the air is commonplace for celebratory reasons, at least in the Middle East / Central Asia. I'm told there's lots of it in Afghanistan, and a videoclip I saw about Iraq (from a US soldier's perspective) made the point that if you hear gunfire and it's a Thursday afternoon, assume it's a wedding.

I saw a videoclip of this lady who had a laughing-disorder.. She burst out in uncontrollable laughter, whenever wherever.. She had a big sign around her neck that she held up when she was laughing, explaining her disease.

I might have considered tattooing something like "Cataplexy and Narcolepsy Suck!" on my forehead if I was that guy..

I don't like those homemade webcam videoclips, but this one was pretty funny
