Nissan GT-R R35 running the Nordschleife in 7.26.7

The Forza franchise is an incredibley pore simulator im sure if you played some of the leading pc sims you would have allot more enjoyment.

The best simulatoins at the moment are I racing, Richard burns rally , R factor , Gtr Evo , LFS , netcar pro
non of the Forza games have come close to these.

I'm not 100% certain on this but this guys driving style seems a bit jerky and forced unsettling the car before corners Faster more talented drivers tend to be allot smoother.

Freak Accident - The Death of Henry Surtees

Snuff?

I was thinking the same thing.. I dunno though since it was televised and probably all over the news.

Very, very sad. You can see the wheel hit his helmet and bam, he's done. Probably compressed his spine and possibly damaged his brain stem. He probably didn't feel anything.

As a fan of racing (although not hardcore), this is unsettling. It's a very dangerous sport. I'd kind of feel bad upvoting. I'm not sure what to do.

Penn Jillette, John Stossel Debate Health Care on Glenn Beck

NetRunner says...

^ I'm a bit more charitable towards doctors -- they just have the wrong incentive structure.

What makes you more money, focusing on the patients' well being, or using the patient as a vehicle for running the maximum number of tests?

The insurance companies' incentives are wrong too -- they aren't looking for the best way to provide total care at lower and lower cost, they're looking to get the biggest profit by having high premiums and covering the healthiest people, and denying care to people on even the most flimsy of excuses.

Jillette is the only person here worth listening to, but I didn't really hear a concrete solution from him. I would agree that there's a problem with the detachment of payment decisions here, but in the case of healthcare you almost by definition don't know what it is that you need to get (hence what the doctor's there for), nor really judge what quality level you need (do I need aspirin, lidocain, morphine? is there any benefit to brand-name over generic? etc.)?

Likewise, do you want the doctor to limit his choices based on cost? Even Beck found that idea unsettling.

So how do we untangle this mess of perverse incentives and incomplete information, if you rule out anything a liberal like me would propose?

why is it unsettling ? I don't care if black culture/skin is no longer practiced/disappears any more or less than if white culture skin color no longer existed / was practiced. just shove photographs and writings in a musiim so whatever can be learned from the past can be learned and move on.
Within the next 60 years i think its likely that people will distance themselves from there physical entity of flesh to some existent , maby we will be able to separate ourselves from our body , evan if we are still locked into our bodies i can see a large number of people exsperanceing alot through vertual reality where u interact fully with people in some invented world. its alredy happning now to some exstent with internet chat MMO,s only its just shit at the moment with exstremily limited interactivty and sences.
once we can exist outside of our born bodies race prejudice will seem Evan more absurd.

But let's be realistic. Most Americans would prefer black skin and culture to be eradicated before white skin and culture is eradicated.

Transcendence (in some form) is the unrealized goal of all life. However, who says we aren't already an amalgamation of transcended beings behind one ego that is our human form?

...i think its fantastic that cultures die out , so long as we preserve A memory of that culture and lern the aspects of it that were actualy good ( which normaly hapens naturaly anny way) then its fantastic that an old culture dies out , I mean if only shitty ideas like religion would hurry up and die out. the memory of a culture should live on for ever and so long as a better culture exists the old practice is welcome to die a horable death

I gathered as much (that you're a cultural nihilist), however it is still unsettling to see it black on white.

Okay, as long as we've got it covered. I wonder about the ethical implications of dropping embed codes of sifted videos in threads. I guess just as long as you post a link to the videosift url as well then maybe people will go vote for it.

touching and unsettling when i think of his death

In reply to this comment by schmawy:
Is it sifted? It should be!

[e:] By the way, it don't take no special ability to drop an embed code in a thread, Jigga.

Explorations Into The Uncanny Valley

Ok, so the characters in Half-Life 2 - Kleiner, Alyx, Eli, Barney...how do they fit in? Are they caricatured enough to fall before the valley?
To me, their failure to be genuinely human is not particularly unsettling.

The Rachel Maddow Show: Apocalypse Now?

11943 says...

I believe that the proper amount of government should only ensure that the personal liberties of the individual are not infringed upon.

I find it unsettling that many people think that government is the only one who can help people in a rough time. This is not true at all, their are many charities that are far more efficient than government bodies. And for those who think that I am not compassionate or "selfish", I contribute money to charities of my choice. Statics have shown that conservatives contribute on average 30% more that liberals. I fully understand that people hit hard time, because I have gone through my hard times and needed help. I did not turn to the government, but rather looked to family and friends.

The problem that I see with government filling this role is that people become dependent on the government and many will abuse the system. Is it fair for people to sit at home living off of government handouts while being fully capable of providing for themselves? The answer that I come to is no, it is not fair. I work very hard and money that I am compensated should be mine, because I have earned it.

Max, I disagree with a couple of thing that you have stated. I do not believe mob-rule is absolute freedom. If the mob decides to infringe upon an individual freedom, them who is to stop them? I also do not believe that a libertarian society would have people starving in the streets. Their would be more incentive for people to be self sufficient and charities would still exist because people would still hold compassion.

Another point that I would like to make is a government who provides basic necessities can also take them away.

Again, I invite all who wish to further debate to join me at http://www.voicingopinions.com/forum
