Why the World’s Biggest Aquarium is Being Built in Secret

spawnflagger says...

I've been to Ferrari World (on that same island) - it was less of a theme park, and more of a Ferrari museum which happened to have a rollercoaster.
The Emiratis like to compete with each other - this new Sea World will be much larger than the aquarium inside the Dubai Mall.

Track Coach Fired After Refusing To Make Athletes Wear Masks

Mystic95Z says...

Good for him on standing up to dumb assery... Masks are overrated unless you are in close proximity to others for extended periods of time... I've not wore one outdoors for the entirety of this pandemic and have yet to contract the virus... I'm a fan of theme parks and I'm not going back until there are no mask requirements, but its hot here in FL during the summer and fuck all that... I got vaccinated, that should be enough.

Gundam Robot Yokohama, Japan Walk Testing!

spawnflagger says...

Yeah, there's no way that thing will ever self-balance. Seems like it's attached to that building. So it's a really cool articulating building. Maybe a useful thing to put in a theme park.

Photo realism in video games

moonsammy says...

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of photorealistic / realistic-behaving games as he describes and which actually work, but I don't know how many current genres / game styles would really "feel right" if presented that way. I don't think I'd want to play an especially violent game that looked fully real, while cartoony or otherwise clearly non-real I'm totally down with. Sports might be interesting, but doesn't really seem a necessary improvement. Survival horror would seem to be a good fit - a fully realistic-feeling presentation of something like Silent Hill or Amnesia has a certain sick appeal. Perhaps particularly in VR. Ideally in The Void.

Drone Footage Of Homs (Syria) Aftermath

Warcraft - Trailer Tease

mentality says...

Acknowledging that you may be wrong does not mean you were not being incredibly condescending.

Will this be the next Citizen Kane? No. And no one is asking it to be. It has the potential to be a well crafted summer blockbuster. And no, a big budget blockbuster is not inherently inferior to a small indie movie like Moon. Duncan Jones did not base himself to make a movie for the masses. It's that kind of elitist attitude that is condescending.

And no, you cannot comment on the quality of the movie based on a 15 second teaser, so far before release. All it shows is that Duncan Jones respects the source material, at least visually.

And as for Warcraft not being known for its story? Well, they made a good movie out of a Disney theme park ride, so anything can happen.

Did you read the rest of my comment?

I acknowledged that I could very well be wrong. But this shows me nothing that makes me want to see it, and frankly it looks like a fairly boring retread of the last hobbit movie.

Hooters Kiss

chingalera says...

Like Hooters and any similar theme-park fried-food dive ain't?? Too bad these douchebags will never have women in their lives with the worst yet to come, eh?

Sorry, I didn't find this clever - just demeaning to women.

Tila Tequila exposes the Illuminati alien/reptilian agendas

G-bar says...

Wow, the more you dig the crazier it gets, and I quote:

"America has no president. It has a series of look-alike cloned Bonobo chimpanzees who are 100% remote controlled through magnetic waves. The alleged President is a sophisticated theme park diorama, a walking and talking 9-11. Its controlling force is not democracy but jungle law and demonic possession."

How New Ships Are Launched

charliem says...

Yeah, its called a dry-dock. This kinda launch seems like something you would only do where you dont have dry-dock facilities...looks crazy fun theme park ride, they should charge admission fees
