Highbrow Antics of a Cat! (3 seconds)

rottenseed says...

c'mon chogglesworth, you don't need to be actin' a fool just to prove you don't like something. We have devices to convey this statement, like downvoting. If enough of the community doesn't like it, it gets discarded. You're actions have probably been counterproductive to your desired outcome because you may have drawn some spite votes which are just as bad (if not worse) than pity votes.

Either way, I agree this video was kinda whack, but we gots to follow SOP, especially as mentors to the probie folk that be a lurkin'.

AK-47 vs M-16

Inspired! m15m is right about losing the 'right wing' imo, although I've never personally seen a left winger as out of control as mushroom.

I think the big push to the right has left the right on the fringe and the left in the center, and of course you sound a helluva lot crazier when arguing from the fringe than from the center. Of course this centrist shift for the Dems has given them somewhat of an identity crisis, leaving them open to charges of spinelessness from both opponents and allies.

...oops, tangent, sorry.....

Anyway, it's clear from mushrooms comment to Dag that he has a major Christ complex. [2 weeks of not getting to vote on videos! = Nailed to a cross] So, a two week ban is probably the best thing he could have hoped for. I'm sure he is sopping up the victim pity over at FreeRepublic as we speak.

What a MarineGunrock actually does

Ok, Danimal, I know you meant no disrespect - but have you ever loaded a 155mm Howitzer? Unless you're Ahnold, you simply aren't strong enough seat the round in the bore with a good seal without ramming it - not to mention that the tray is faster. Also, yes, the chief is supposed to jump around. How else would he verify the data? The fact that you call it a "rail" and not a trail is either a typo, or tells me that you really don't know what you're talking about. What exactly did you do?

Big Bigbikeman: Deflection 3288 is a reading in mils. A mil is 1/6,400th of a complete circle, or .056 degrees. So deflection is left and right - the number he read before that was quadrant - that is the elevation of the cannon. On the right is the quadrant - there is a dial that is set to whatever number is called off and when the cannon tube is elevated, there is a level vial that must be leveled out - that tells you that you are at the set quadrant. On the left is the PanTel, or Panoramic Telescope. On this there is also a dial that is set to the number called off for the mission. When the Gunner sets that number, the head rotates, and he must then traverse the cannon back so he can see his aiming point through the PanTel.

Spoco: I don't know much about the cost of all that, but it's relatively inexpensive. You'd have to find an ammo technician for that.

Dag: Yes, ear protection is actually mandated by the SOP. However, it also hinders your ability to properly hear the data being called off and verified. You'll find that most Marines don't wear it, rather than just use their two forefingers - they work better than anything else. Hearing protection is mostly in the form of in-ear plugs.

Easy Guns, I meant no disrespect... The sled, or tray, is not needed for anything smaller than DPICM (which is at 125lbs) An HE is 92 to 105lbs. Smoke is less. Cannoneer #1 can handle the round and load it, lip it, then ram it. And by gunner I meant gunner #2, the guy that sets the elevation. Handling of primer from one hand to the other increases the chance of dropping it. And, BTW, the chief should not be jumping from one rail to the other; it's not ballet. Also, I bet SOPs vary between services quite a bit.

Sloppy? Yes. Not using the tray? First of all, what do you want them to do? Carry the round up there by hand, and push it in by themselves? Stupid, dangerous, impossible. Powder to the other side? Sure. "Gunner" (I'm assuming you're talking about the #1 Man) not touching the primer? Who the hell do you want to put it in? The ammo team?
Everything you suggested it completely against the SOP.

And the whole not using the tray thing makes me think you don't have a clue what a 155mm projectile looks like.

Debt Collectors on the best ways to catch their prey

For anyone else (investigative reporter, ex-girlfriend, high school friend, birth relative) this would be considered stalking, probably illegal and unethical.

For collections people, it is SOP and a business plan. What douchebags.

Did Bush know about 9/11 in advance?

haggis says...

Really don't know what to make of this. It certainly can't be ignored, that's for sure. On the one hand, the Secret Service certainly didn't follow SOPs (it doesn't matter what image the President wants to project: the Secret Service's ONLY responsibility in that scenario is for his safety - not for his image), and the slip in the town hall takes some explaining.

And yet... suppose he, or his staff, knew - would they reveal their complicity in such an obvious manner? Having a live closed-circuit feed of the first plane hitting the tower in a public building is some pretty lousy OPSEC. And the Secret Service should still pretend to do their job, even if they do know there's no danger to Bush or the children (and in a genuine and chaotic situation they could not guarantee that - remember all the crazy speculation that was flying around the media that day, multipy it by Worst Case Scenario, and THAT's what the military's/Secret Service's response SHOULD have been).

The sites that attempt to debunk 9/11 conspiracy theories (some of which, such as 911myths.com, do an extremely good job in many cases) don't even touch this, and it's not exactly a new observation. We can take that to mean that they can't explain it. Why not?

In any case, this is all circumstantial. If anyone ever expects to prosecute the perpetrators of this crime (and, just in case you believe the ONYA - Osama and Nineteen Young Arabs - conspiracy theory, it's worth noting that the FBI hasn't prosecuted a single person and openly admits it wouldn't have enough evidence to convict Osama Bin Laden even if he was still alive), there are more fruitful avenues of investigation - the demolitions, the NORAD/USAF stand-down, the security lapses at the airports, the lack of any Arabs on the Flight 77 Autopsy list, and so on.

Keep gnawing away at the bullshit, folks - the truth's in there somewhere. Just don't believe everything you hear, whoever's saying it. This Is Not A Partisan Issue.
