Monosexuality can be cured
Wow, God makes a very believable reparative therapist!
As social satire, this probably belongs in the *parody, *humor and *religion (what is being satirised) channels.
Jimmy Kimmel at a Barbershop - Which Obama Jokes Are Racist?
I loved that. It definitely deserves the happy tag. The best part was, "Why, because he's black?" *high fives all around*
Nice bit of social satire there.

He seems to be channeling Bill Hicks.
Every time me, or somebody else posts Doug Stanhope, someone will comment about his form of socially satirical comedy being reminiscent of Bill Hicks. I tend to agree.
Frank Zappa on Newsnight 1983
Under-appreciated genius. Unfortunately, not a terribly accessible genius. I've given up playing Zappa for friends- they quickly dismiss it and one girlfriend got so mad at me when I played the "Joe's Garage" cd that she threatened to kick me out of bed! Ironic social satire can be wasted on a University Women's studies student.
Whiz Mobile - GTA 4 Viral Marketing
Great, now the GTA people are going to think I'm 102 years old.
This ad is brilliant - this should already be in the top 15 list. Seriously.
Rockstar doesn't get enough credit for the social satire.
George Carlin on white people
Just to start this comment off: This is all in the fun of debate. I'm bored at work...it's friday, and I need some stimuli to keep occupied.
I did leave that part out of my quote, and I am glad you bring that up. I'm not bashing on Carlin for being old. Bukowski was an old coot, just as I'll be an old coot (already am to the really young folks).
The poem starts off with:
"we are always asked
to understand the other person's
viewpoint
no matter how
out-dated
foolish or
obnoxious.
one is asked
to view
their total error
their life-waste
with
kindliness,
especially if they are
aged."
He goes on to explain that, although, we are asked these things, it's not my fault they have aged so poor and lost their connect to the world, it's theirs ("age is the total of our doing"). Carlin definitely hasn't wasted his life. Personally I don't think this poem has anything to do with what I said about Carlin not connecting with the world these days. If it does, then the poem is saying "hey, it's not my fault".
From a young age, probably too young when I think about it, I have been watching Carlin blow people's minds with his famous rants that would touch on relevant things to the times. He shaped my appreciation for social satire and that sense of skepticism but it just seems like with his brand of comedy, if he's not in touch with things (other parts of this routine show this too) then his comedy isn't effective anymore.
Maybe I'm just saddened to see a legend beyond his prime.
Doug Stanhope on Nationalism
gwiz665, this clip may not be the best one from Doug's set that is reminiscent of the social satire Bill Hicks was so great at. I do find this bit funny, as I can relate to the things he says, but whatever that's all relative. I really do recommend looking into more of his work to get a full scope of his ideals and talent (despite the travesty that was "The Man Show"). As I respect Bill Hicks' work, I would never reference him in vain. Then again, different comics affect you different ways, so who knows.
