Most Epic Marriage Proposal Ever!

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

All I have to say is 14 years....if you've been alive for 30, 40, 50 years and you don't have any "exotic" looking memories like whats shown in this video; then you probably need to re-evaluate what you are spending your money on. Almost anyone regardless of income can afford to see a baseball game, to skydive, to go on a deep sea fishing trip, and take a once a year trip to some faraway location...maybe not every month but in 14 years??

I mean come on people, you can fly to almost any region of the world for under $1000 last I checked.

Most Epic Marriage Proposal Ever!

blankfist says...

I seriously doubt Panavision would donate cameras and equipment to anyone who wanted to make a proposal video. This guy had to know someone important at Panavision.

Also, did anyone else notice all the cool things they did during the 'life flashing before their eyes' montage? Sure it doesn't cost a lot to go to a baseball game or skydive, but sailing your own boat typically requires some decent cash. And seeing how they're at a 'Dodgers' game, I'm gonna just assume they live in Los Angeles, and docking a boat out here can be expensive. And the wifey-to-be is a 'show jumper' which seems like something privileged hoity-toity people do.

And he hired a production team. And that looks like it was shot on film, or if HD it still looks like it was color-timed and sound mixed which costs big dollars. And did you see the rock on that ring?!

I was completely jealous for about five seconds then realized he's getting married and all felt right in the world again.

Bumped from 1st Class for Wearing a Jump Suit

xxovercastxx says...

I can understand dress code for some things... work, nice restaurants... but this is a fucking plane. Why should you put on a suit to be stuffed into a chair for a couple hours? First class might be less stuffed than coach, but it's still just a chair.

I thought that "jump suit" meant some type of skydiving outfit, which would indeed be awkward on a commercial flight.

Yeah. I believe his outfit was a track suit, not a jump suit.

I was curious so I just looked this up. 'Jumpsuit' originally referred to sky diving attire but later came to refer to any one-piece. It's pretty common to hear track suits referred to as jumpsuits, though.

Skydiving With Hawks In Nepal

silvercord says...

Parahawking involves skydiving while specially-trained birds of prey swarm around you, including vultures, eagles, and falcons. It’s available in Nepal courtesy of a bird rescue group called Himalayan Raptor Rescue. Hypothetically, it should lead to a superior paragliding experience:

Birds of prey have a natural instinct to conserve energy wherever and whenever possible. During a flight, a bird will burn more energy than it would if it was just sitting in a tree, this means it has to eat to replace the used energy. Sometimes birds will travel long distances to find food. To conserve energy whilst flying, birds of prey use thermals. Thermals are rising currents of warm air that are created by the sun heating the ground. Birds can gain height and travel long distances without flapping their wings by using thermals. Paragliders also use thermals when they are flying and will often use wild birds to guide them to where the thermals are. Our trained birds are no different, they will find the thermals in order to stay aloft and conserve energy whilst flying. We as paragliders harness their ability to conserve energy by following them as we fly.

Our birds need to be rewarded for guiding us into the thermals. During the flight the passenger will place small morsels of meat onto his gloved hand, the birds will come and gently land on the hand to take the food, and then gracefully fly away to find the next thermal. A perfect symbiotic relationship.

This tandem aerial sport was first developed in 2001, and since then it has joined climbing Mt. Everest and going to that monkey temple as a must-do for anyone visiting Nepal. $150 buys you a 30 minute glide through Parahawking.com.

Scared recruit on the rappel tower

calvados says...

We were rappelling on Friday. Good times. I used to be afraid of going off the tower (or off of a high diving platform) but you do it a few times and you get past it. The first time I rappelled, in fall '98 just after my recruit summer, I was first thinking "ohh -- maybe I can get out of doing it somehow" but then the new part of me said "no, you're going to be brave and you're going to do this", and lo, I did.

For whatever reason I think I'd be chicken about bungee jumping but I'm looking forward to skydiving. I was hoping to do it before this season ended but my friends have no cheddar and so can't go now.
