It had to happen some day: Frankie Boyle commented on the US election.

I honestly don't understand your point about Cindy. I don't get the feeling that she is dancing off the pounds. This feels like a BBW jerk off vid. They do exist.

If she is celebrating her own sexuality, good for her.

As for your claim that I am blind to representations of women in the media, you have said that to me before. You were wrong before, you are wrong now. There are numerous studies that show that women are underrepresented in the media. There are numerous studies proving that women's movie and TV careers are severely circumscribed when they reach a certain age. Without breaking a sweat, I can name a dozen sitcoms starring fat men with slender to average wives and two that star(red) women of size -- Roseanne and Mike and Molly. And this just sitcoms.

I know there is nothing I can say about this subject, because I believe you to be willfully blind about the facts.

And yes, as I always do, I acknowledge that the unreasonable standards of beauty that women are held to is happening more and more to men. I do not think that is a good thing. It is a spreading cancer. Ignoring that is happens to women doesn't stop it happening to men.

And I hate Magic Mike I and II. Stupid plot, stupid dialogue, boring as shit and not enough dancing . The Full Monty now? OH yeah! Fat blokes, skinny blokes, gay blokes, old blokes, ginger blokes..... That is a movie that celebrates life and interpersonal relationships.

So, you would have been OK if someone talked about the ugly, fat woman dancing with (or without) the over sexualized male cheerleaders? ;-)
Like her....

I don't think that's right.

On a more serious note, if you are only seeing perfect, thin, over sexualized women in the media, I think that's on you for only choosing those types of programs.
EDIT: Oh, and the movie you want is Magic Mike.

Even spiders hate spiders.

Almost as funny as those spiders on LSD. I think I would watch a sitcom about spiders, even if it were just people talking over nature footage. Like a spider Seinfeld. Yeah, that's my dream.

Jimmy Carr Destroys Hecklers and Bad Gifts

scheherazade says...

The first comeback was really weak. I have the feeling that he couldn't think of anything good.

The second one I've heard him do more times than I can count.

I couldn't help thinking 'O.o' when the audience laughed [as much as they did]. It felt like a sitcom where there was a laugh light, and people just laugh over the smallest bit.

Jimmy Carr is a funny guy, but this particular moment was not a highlight. Simply passable.

Granted, it's unlikely I would have done any better - but I'm not a comedian either. Whatevz.

So in your eyes, this is the worst SNL skit of all time? That's amazing!

I found it a somewhat clever critique of the evolution of sitcoms and the suckass nature of TV in general.

SNL hit a new low. Who thought that was possible.

One of the best WTF's ever.

I can see why people stopped watching after 2 minutes - it stayed too long on the sitcom intro thing. Also, if you didn't grow up in the 80's, or watch 80's tv shows, it probably isn't that funny.

MilkmanDan says...

I'm with @dannym3141 -- I watched the whole thing, and got quite a few of the references from TV and sitcoms when I was growing up ... but at the end I just ended up wishing I had spent my 11 minutes on something else.

But to each his own, you now?

.. and i started skipping ahead at 2:00.. The joke was clear by that point (endless stream of stereotypical sitcom characters) and it wasn't even funny. Simpsons/Family Guy/South Park etc can tell the same story in 30 seconds... At some point it gets weird but i had lost all interest way way before that so don't know what was that about.
